Lawrenceburg, Kentucky is a small town in the state of Kentucky. The population was 7,711 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat for Campbell County. Lawrenceburg is located in eastern Campbell County on the Bluegrass River. The town was founded by brothers John and George Lawrence in 1825. They named their settlement after Lawrenceburg, Ohio, which they had just visited while on a visit to that state. The first settler arrived in 1827 and built a log cabin on the river bank. The community grew quickly and soon there were several stores, a schoolhouse and a dozen or so homes. In 1830, John Lawrence purchased land east of the town site from David Sheppard for $1 per acre. This area became known as "the Doctor's Hill". John Lawrence died in 1836 and his brother George took over management of the town. George built two churches – one called First Baptist Church (now First United Methodist Church) and one called Second Baptist Church (now Evangelical PresbyterianChurch). He also developed an agricultural economy with farming, woolen spinningners' shops and blacksmiths being among its first businesses George Lawrence passed away in 1850, but his widow continued to manage affairs of the local community until her death in 1865 After her death, control passed through three daughters before it fell into disarray until it was taken over by their son Charles A., who ran it successfully from 1870-1924 In 1924 James W., grandson of Charles A., assumed control once again As recently as 2000-2001 Timothy Bowers managed everything from silver service to computer programming while he finished up law school at Georgetown University Law School There are now no resident families remaining except those descended from those who lived here during Prohibition years when alcohol was not allowed

Lawrenceburg is a small town in Breathitt County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Hazardville–Lawrenceburg, KY Micropolitan Statistical Area. The area that now stands in Lawrenceburg was first settled by families from the Ohio Valley in 1796. Lawrenceburg was platted on December 12, 1801 by George Washington Carver and James Patton as part of a land grant to Benjamin Lincoln. The name “Lawrenceburg” was chosen because it sounded like “leader burgh” which referred to Edinburgh, Scotland. The town grew rapidly during the 19th century due to cotton cultivation and manufacturing. It became an important center for trade and transportation in eastern Kentucky during this time period. In 1870, the railroad arrived in Lawrenceburg and quickly helpedthe town prosper. By 1910, there were over 1,500 residents living in Lawrenceburg. During World War II, Lawrenceburgh served as a military airfield for RAF Haverfordwest RAF (No 334 Sqdn) from 1942-1945; it operated out of nearby Peebles Airfield until 1946 when it closed down following the war's end. A new airport was built north of town site after World War II and named Love Field Airport but it closed down also following the Korean War era when all U.S.-owned airports were nationalized and closed down along with their aircraft industry worldwide except for tiny Love Field Airport in Australia which still retains its civilian use today
Lawrenceburg was founded in 1792 by John Lawrence and his wife, Eleanor. It was named for General George Washington. The town grew rapidly during the 19th century, and by 1881 it had a population of 4,500. In 1887, Lawrenceburg became the capital of Kentucky. In 1925, it was renamed to Louisville.
