The United States Army deployed gift history in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky on October 14th, 1861. The deployment was part of the effort to suppress Confederate efforts to break away from the Union. The army's First Infantry Brigade was sent to Lawrenceburg in order to provide security for a large shipment of supplies being made from Louisville, Kentucky. The brigade also served as a training unit for new officers and soldiers. On November 1st, 1861, General Beauregard ordered the redeployment of the 1st Infantry Brigade to Lawrenceburg in order to help with the defense of Louisville. This re-deployment marked the first time that an infantry brigade had been stationed in Lawrenceburg since it had been established as a military settlement in 1819. At this time, Lawrenceburg was home to over 10 thousand residents and was one of the largest towns within three miles of Lexington, Kentucky. In late December 1861, General Beauregard ordered all units within his command across Kentucky be increased in size by 3 brigades (the 2nd and 3rd Infantry Brigades) and 4 batteries (the 4th Artillery Battalion). These orders were intended as a way to increase Confederate forces available for operations outside of Lexington during winter months when resources were limited. In response to these orders, Colonel John Waddell ordered his 5th Cavalry Regiment into service from neighboring Jefferson County on January 12th 1862. The 1st Infantry Brigade arrived at Lawrenceburg on February 9th 1862 and beganitzing onto parade ground adjacent to courthouse square. On March 8th 1862, ceremonies marking the regiment's arrival took place before local dignitaries including Governor John Morton and Mayor James Hardin. The regiment received its baptism of fire on April 6th 1862 when it participated in an attack against rebel forces near Owings Mill Creek Bridge. During this engagement, members of the brigade lost their lives including Lieutenant Colonel George Hinton who bravely led his unit through intense gunfire while carrying out raids against Rebel positions day and night for weeks on end until he fell wounded near Owings Mills Bridge later that month. Aftermath investigations revealed that many other Regimental members engaged in similar actions during this early skirmish campaign which may have resulted in several dead or captured rebels not listed among those killed by Company C during their march through town Thursday evening... A few days later Company C came under fire while raiding Rebel lines southwest of town limits; two men died instantly from wounds sustained ramming into burning buildings... As soon as they could they abandoned their search without finding any survivors however two more men were found dead hours later some distance back along Owl’s Mill road after crawling through mud & grass trying get back onto friendly lines

The Lawrenceburg, Kentucky Army National Guard Armory was the first of its kind in the United States. It was opened in 1939 and has been home to the guard ever since. The gift history of this armory can be traced back to 1939, when it was dedicated as part of the Army's new recruitment program. At that time, the Lawrenceburg armory consisted of just a few hundred soldiers. But over time, it has become one of the most important in the army and has been used for everything from training troops for war to supplying troops with equipment during peaceetime. In recent years, however, some members of the Lawrenceburg community have expressed concerns about how long-term their city's relationship with the army will continue to be good.
Lawrenceburg is a town in Morgan County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 2,027 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat ofMorgan County. The first permanent settler in Lawrenceburg was John Hargrave on February 10, 1814.
The town of Lawrenceburg was platted on December 16, 1827 by James Piggott and Daniel Boone. The original name of the town was "Piney Fork".
Lawrenceburg became a city on February 24, 1907. On July 12, 1910, Mayor Wm. Henson filed a petition for incorporation with the state of Kentucky under the name "Lawrenceburg." The incorporation took place on October 14 and the city charter was adopted on November 5.
The post office has been in operation since 1827 and was renamed "Lawrenceburgh" in 1907 to honor President George Washington Carver who had donated land for it.
On May 1st 1909 local citizens voted to rename their downtown square after General Ulysses S. Grant who served as mayor from 1886-1892/93 and Commanding Officer of Military District No 3 during World War I while living in Louisville; this monument still stands today adjacent to Interstate 70 just east of downtown Lawrenceburg.
Upon his death Grant's remains were interred at Elmwood Cemetery
General Grant Square still functions as an important center for business improvement events and streetscape enhancements throughout Lawrenceburg.
A summertime tradition that began over 50 years ago is Blowing Out Day which begins with picnics at Old Stone Church each Saturday starting around 9am until late afternoon when all windows are blown out (the last window being blown out approximately 4 pm). This event provides muchneeded entertainment forouthwest Kentucky residents during what can be an otherwise somber day

Lawrenceburg is a town in Forks County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 1,846 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lexington–Fayette Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Lawrenceburg was James Hogg who arrived in 1815 and platted the town on land he had purchased from David Crockett. The name of the settlement may have been derived from nearby MountLawrence (a mountain located about north of present-day Lawrenceburg). A post office called "Lenoir" was established in 1827, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1902. In 1848, John Denton founded what became known as Harrodsville after purchasing some land east of present-day Harrodsville from Nicholas Wright. Denton named his new community for himself and his wife Harriet Harrod (née Lane). In 1850, following the admission of Kentucky to the Union as a state, Lawrenceburg became one of its first towns. In 1857, it boasted an enrollment of 100 students; by 1860 that number had grown to 255 students and grew even more during the Civil War years when Lawrenceburg served as a field hospital for Confederate troops. During Reconstruction time (1887-1913), Lawrenceburg experienced rapid growth due to its location onthe main highway linking Louisville with Nashville and other points south. These days much smaller businesses line Main Street between US 17/Highway 66 Business Avenue and Fourth Street while still others dot various side streetsides off this artery which runs along University Boulevard just east of downtown; these businesses are mainly small mom-and-pop stores that have not seen such success since prohibition ended many years ago! With all these changes taking place around town over these past few decades or so there has never been an easy answer when trying to determine just how much change has taken place within this boundaries confines; each individual would likely disagree because everyone’s perspective will be somewhat different! But overall something HAS changed hereabouts over time!!! Now consider all those people who live or work within city limits...lawrenceburghians!!! The Lawrenceburg area was first settled by the Shawnees in the late 18th century. The town was founded in 1785 by Colonel Robert E. Lee, who named it for his father-in-law, General James Lawrence. In 1800, a small community of Scots-Irish settlers called Greeneville grew up around the intersection of Kentucky Route 6 and Kentucky Route 7. By 1810, Lawrenceburg had a population of about 150 people. The town declined during the 19th century because of its distance from major markets and its location on a remote ridge near what is now Louisville. However, it revived after the construction of the Louisville and Nashville Railroad in 1859 made Lawrenceburg accessible to larger settlements throughout central Kentucky. In 1865, when Major General John Fenton took command of Union forces at Fort Donelson in Tennessee, he moved his headquarters from Nashville to Lexington to prepare for an attack on Chattanooga. When Confederate forces attacked Fort Donelson on April 9, 1865, they drove Union forces back across the Cumberland River and into Lawrenceburg. Aftermath saw several churches destroyed and more than 1,000 homes burned; however,Lawrenceburg’s rebirth came about due to its strategic position as a crossroads between two important railroad lines and its close proximity to military bases such as Fort Benjamin Harrison and Fort Donelson
