The Mount Washington, Kentucky Army National Guard unit was founded in 1920. The organization has loyalty to the United States of America and is known for its traditions and culture. The units' history can be traced back to World War I when the regiment was mobilized as part of the “ Victory Battalion” which fought in France and Belgium. After the war, the battalion was redesignated as a company cavalry unit and served in the Mexican Border War before being disbanded in 1922. In 1940, a new regiment, Company A, was raised from scratch within the brigade headquarters of 1st Infantry Division (later 2nd Infantry Division) at Camp Nelson near Clarksville, Kentucky. Company A became an all-volunteer unit with men drawn from all over eastern Kentucky including Mount Washington. During World War II, Company A served on land campaigns across Normandy and Germany while also serving as aauxiliary unit attached to artillery brigades throughout Italy and southern Europe; Additionally they made three major combat deployments during World War II: Operation Overlord – Sicily; Operation Market Garden – Arnhem; and Allied Assault – Holland–Bremen. For their service during World War II, Company A was awarded both citations for heroism (the first ever given to an AmericanArmy unit) as well as five Silver Stars (#5). In 1945 it withdrew from active duty but continued to serve in reserve until reactivated again in 1951 as part of Army National Guard program for re-deployment after Korean War era hostilities ended. Since 1970s there have been several changes within Regiment due to population growth rates along with increased military retirees which have caused Regiment's manpower needs to vary significantly over time culminating with establishment of two squadrons within Brigade HQ currently equipped with M4A1 carbines each supplemented by M2HB machine guns for infantry support role providing firepower against ground threats on ranges across KY/Tennessee area Mount Washington Army National Guard Unit's Loyalty To United States Of America is based on patriotism that dates back many years prior when troops were mobilized into US armed forces during WWI under president Woodrow Wilson’s call for national defense following Great Britain’s entry into WWI . This mobilization led directly to Mountains becoming home of one ofAmerica’s earliest black infantry regiments which were mustered into service October 16th 1917 at Helena Montana under command of Colonel John Rankin Cagle who had himself enlisted out Of Lexington Ky prior to that date This black regiment originally consisted only male African Americans however due predominance among white soldiers numbers grew slowly until November 1918 when 9th U S Colored Troops arrived at Ft Knox Ky accompanied by 10 other companies & troop colonel rankin cagle ordered them organized into battle array similar formation used by Confederate army during Mississippi Secession

By 1824, many people in America had heard about Mount Washington from accounts written by explorers such as John Covington and Daniel Boone. The United States Geological Survey renamed it Mount Washington on February 14th, 1825 in honor of President Andrew Johnson's dedication to preserving our national forests during his term as president from 1865-1868. Mount Washington is a popular tourist destination for hiking and skiing because its summit offers stunning views over parts of both states – including Nashville and Knoxville – as well as much of Eastern Kentucky and Western Tennessee. Hiking trails lead around most or all of its circumference while ski slopes range from gentle slopes for children to challenging groomed hills for advanced skiers or snowboarders; both offer excellent opportunities for ridge riding if desired (eBird data 2016).
