American airforce pilots have been providing support to our troops in the field for over 60 years. The AAF is a powerful symbol of American democracy and strength. It has always been an important part of the US military, and Slidell, Louisiana is home to one of America's largest AAF wings. The first time that American air force pilots appeared in France was during World War I when they were called up to help fight against Austria. From then on, they were constantly Deployed to various conflicts throughout Europe and the Middle East. The AAF was even used as a training ground for new fighter pilots during World War II. During this time, many famous Americans such as Chuck Yeager and F4U Corsair pilot John McCain enlisted in the AAF. These men helped show America's resolve in world events and made it possible for us to win WWII. Since WWII, the USAF has played a very important role both domestically and abroad. They have fought in every conflict since 1945 including Desert Storm where they led airstrikes against Iraq; Operation Iraqi Freedom where they flew combat missions from bases all around Iraq; Afghanistan; Kosovo; Libya; Somalia; Sudan; Syria….the list goes on! They are also responsible for conducting numerous scientific experiments which have had a significant impact on our lives today. In addition, their airlift capabilities allow us to provide essential services wherever we are located across America without having to rely on other forms of transportation like trains or buses- something that is really appreciated by everyone!

Slidell is a town located in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. The population was 21,812 at the 2010 census. It is the second most populous parish in Louisiana after Orleans and is one of the few remaining plantation towns in the state. The area that now makes up Slidell was once part of what is now Baton Rouge. Slidell's original land grant came from Governor John C. Frémont on July 4, 1807.The town of Slidell was founded by Major General Lafayette on October 15, 1811 as a post office and trading center on the banks of Bayou Teche between I-10 and I-610 near modern day Slidell and Chalmette. By 1816, Slidell had become an important slave trade center with over 50% of all registered slaves living in the parish at that time. In 1870, Slidell became an official U.S.-Mexico border crossing point when Ulysses S Grant attempted to cross into Mexico using this location as his final resting place before he was assassinated at Monterrey two weeks later. As a result of its importance to both countries, Slidell lost its status as a town after it first became an official crossing point but has since regained some status due to its natural gas production which began operations in 1969
