The Greenbelt Shooter's Museum is a non-profit museum that preserves and displays firearms from the Gun Owners of Maryland organization.
Greenbelt is a small city located in Prince George's County, Maryland. The population was 8,951 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Washington-Baltimore- Frederick, MD Metropolitan Statistical Area. Greenbelt is known for its natural resources and its historic district which includes many contributing buildings from the early 20th century. The first Europeans to visit what is now Greenbelt were traders looking for new land to trade with. The area that would become Greenbelt was first settled by Germans in the mid-1700s after they discovered rich seams of coal and other natural resources near present day Bethesda and Silver Spring. By 1800, most of what is now Greenbelt had been developed as a rural agricultural community named Largo de la Cantera (or "Largo Landing"). In 1864, when President Abraham Lincoln proposed the Homestead Act to encourage settlers to move into newly acquired U.S. territory, he included an exemption for farmers who had bought land within five miles of any military post or naval station then open to settlement by Americans. This led to the development of what are now Park Heights and Anacostia neighborhoods on North Capitol Street in downtown Greenbelt; these areas were later annexed into Greenbelt as part of an urban renewal project initiated by Mayor Harry Sinks in 1961 (see also: Parkside neighborhood). One reason why Green Belt has been so strong since it emerged as a rural agricultural community was because there was no one major industry that dominated the local economy until after World War II when large corporations started moving into town and starting businesses such as Bethlehem Steel and United Paperworkers Local No. 226 (later American Paper Workers Local No1) began producing paper products such as copy paper, packing slips, envelopes and labels from small mills near town center while people worked on small farms around them growing corn, peas and potatoes; this type of agriculture remained important up through the late 1960s when larger machines replaced men with power tools in most industries while food prices increased rapidly due to better global supplies; however this type of agriculture declined thereafter until recent times due mostly to changes in transportation patterns including suburbanization which has made it difficult for farmers access good farmland near cities while also reducing demand for goods grown closeby As more young people moved away from their parents' homes during the “Great Migration” following World War II they took their families with them but many others decided not to leave rural America behind – instead they chose middle class lifestyles outside metropolitan areas thereby creating pockets of poverty within adjacent suburbs where jobs could be found but incomes were lower than those living inside city limits One result has been a sharp increase over recent years in crime rates both inside and outside suburbia; accordingly robberies have become a common occurrence on streetscape near schools where children play or drive away from home during lunchtime Addressing these issues will require significant investment both publically funded programs like Safe Streets initiatives launched by Mayor Muriel Bowser [2016] as well as private sector partnerships focused on job training opportunities within inner city neighborhoods

Greenbelt was a small town in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States before the population was reduced by World War II to fewer than 1,000 people. The town is now a census-designated place (CDP) and it is part of the Baltimore–Washington Metropolitan Area. The first Europeans to visit Greenbelt were French traders in 1682. In 1775, during the American Revolution, Greenbelt's then-Mayor John Armstrong met with General Washington at Mount Vernon and agreed to allow British troops access to the town for training purposes. After the war ended, Greenbelt became property of King George III of Great Britain. The community had no school until 1837 when a group of settlers led by Capt. John Pugh donated land for a public school district that would serve all residents of Prince George's County. The first school building was built on what is now West Van Buren Street in 1838 and classes began students from Kindergarten through High School in 1840. It was not until 1865 that Greenbelt voters incorporated as a village under the name "Greenbelt." In 1895, local farmers organized an Agricultural Show which became an annual event attended by thousands of people from throughout Maryland and Northern Virginia. The show attracted attention from around America and helped promote agriculture as a viable industry in Maryland while also exposing young people to new opportunities beyond their home state borders. A fire destroyed much of Greenbelt on November 25th 1916 during World War I effort destroying many buildings including both Old Main School and Green Belt Village Hall which remain standing today as museum exhibits or tourist attractions
