The history of the Laurel Shooters Club is long and proud. The club was founded in 1907 as a society for gentlemen shooters who wished to improve their skills. In 1916, the club made its first appearance at the George Washington Rifle and Pistol Championship where it placed second. From there, the club steadily improved its performance and hosted many championships over the years. In 1951, the club became an official member of IPSC and has participated in every major event since then. Today, Laurel Shooters Club members are from all walks of life and come from all corners of Maryland. They range in age from young children to senior citizens, men and women alike. Each year they gather together to compete in various shooting events across Maryland. The club is also home to several large rifle ranges which make it easy for everyone to participate in target shooting drills on different days of the week.

Laurel is a small town located in Prince George's County, Maryland. It has a population of about 33,000 people. The town was named after General John Laurence Laurel who fought in the War of 1812 and was one of the signers of the United States Constitution. The community was founded on October 12, 1820 by surveyors and farmers who were looking for a new home to settle after leaving Harpers Ferry during the war. There are still many farms and homes in Laurel that date back to that time. The first post office in Laurel opened in 1825. In 1830, it became part of Baltimore County and later become part of Montgomery County. The first school in Laurel was built on Main Street in 1829-30. It was called the Academy School until it moved to its present location on North Seventh Street in 1870-71. The first pastor of Laurel Methodist Church was Revd Ebenezer Brownell who served from 1833-1836 and Revd Augustus Hahn from 1840-1841. In 1865, when Maryland became a state, Laurel became an independent municipality with its own government under the laws of Prince George's County which continued to apply until 1975 when it came under full control of Montgomery County as part of their larger Comprehensive Plan redevelopment project

Laurel is a town in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States. As of the 2010 census, its population was 7,936. Laurel was first settled by Scots-Irish immigrants in 1778. The area now known as Laurel was part of Montgomery County until 1828 and then Prince George's County until 1901. The town became a municipality in 1935. The Stroud family were among the earliest settlers in Laurel and are buried at Mount Zion Cemetery. They came from Ayrshire Scotland around 1790 and built a small cabin on the side of a hill about two miles (3 km) north of present-day Laurel. John Stroud Sr., son of John Stroud III, became one of the most important landholders in early Laurel; he acquired large tracts of land east and west of Interstate 95 near his home on President Road (later U.S. Route 1). In 1815 he also bought 8 acres (3 ha) south of present day Main Street to build what would become Parkland School House—the first public school in Laurel Township. A group led by Captain John Pauldingthus formed a "rifle company" for service during the War for Independence under the slogan "Brothers against tyrants." On July 14th, 1776 they succeeded in driving British forces out from Mt Vernon Plantation after three days' fighting which began with an ambush by Captains Pauldingthus and Robert Rosser nearpresent-day Westfield Avenue and continued through skirmishes at nearby Broad Runnyk Creek before finally reaching their objective near Easton Road northeast ofpresent-day Old Town Square where they destroyed all but three British cannons before withdrawing back to Mount Vernon plantation that night with some losses including Captains Pauldingthus and Rosser themselves killed or captured
