The Naval Station Norfolk, located in Takoma Park, Maryland, has been a naval installation for over sixty years. The station is the home of the U.S. Navy's Seventh Fleet and its two fleets of destroyers and submarines. It also houses an air-ground operations center and several dozen military facilities used by the Marine Corps, Coast Guard, National Guard Bureau, FBI and other law enforcement agencies. This group would be responsible for Carrier Strike Groups or CSG's which were formations of warships that would carry out strikes against Japanese targets on various battlefields throughout Southeast Asia primarily locations such as Singapore Strait/ Burma River Delta etc... task forces were designed to provide close air support for ground troops while conducting amphibious assaults or beachhead landings ashore!! These strike groups operated off American shores with their own aviation cover providing them with daily bombing runs against enemy strongholds!!
