Air Force deployed gift history in Allen Park, Michigan began with the birth of the United States Air Force on September 18, 1947. The USAF was created as a result of President Harry S Truman's Executive Order 9981. On that date, Lieutenant General Curtis LeMay became Commander-in-Chief of the USAF and ordered the organization to mobilize all manned aircraft within two weeks for a possible invasion of Japan. On December 1, 1947 President Truman issued Executive Order 12674 which activated the National Guard Bureau to provide security for military installations in metropolitan Detroit area. This order also called for an increase in Active Duty Military Personnel (ADMP) by 50%. The first shipment of gifts from the USAF arrived in Allen Park on January 3, 1948. This was followed by more shipments over the next few months until allocated resources had been exhausted. On July 5, 1948 United States Air Forces Europe received its first shipment of gifts from Headquarters USAF at RAF Mildenhall England. Included were three Lockheed L-7A ‘Panthers’ Ventura bombers and four Beechcraft Bonanza turboprop planes donated by local business leaders and citizens alike. These planes were used to ferry personnel and supplies between RAF Mildenhall and various airfields located throughout Europe during Operation Overlord –the Allied landings in Normandy which ended World War II on May 6, 1945. The USAAF presence continued to grow as gifts arrived from Canada, Australia and New Zealand among others during this time frame. By October 8th, 1948 allocating remaining resources had resulted in only 14 gift items being delivered toAllen Park so far! It is largely thanks to donations made by local businesses that this number has been significantly reduced over the years! In December 1951 a new donation arrived at our Airport when Major General James E Hutton donated four Cessna 310s behalf of Headquarters USAF stationed at Langley Research Center Virginia Beach USA. These planes would be used for transports carrying troops and equipment across NATO member countries during Operation Neptune's Spear –the Allied offensive against North Korea which began on November 21st 1950).over 350 different items have been shipped through our Airport since then making it one of busiest Gift Shops in America!

Allen Park is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan, and the seat of Macomb County. The population was 147,871 at the 2010 census, making it the seventh-most populous city in Michigan. It lies on the southern border of Macomb County and is bordered by Grand Rapids to the north,Oakland City to the east, and Southfield to the south. The area that now makes up Allen Park was first settled by French Canadians in 1796 and organized as a township in 1817. The first post office was established in 1823, and was called Belle Isle Township after Belle Isle Township near Detroit. In 1837, it became part of Oakland Township when that township was created from parts of two other townships: Northwest Territory (nowRoyal Oak) and White Heights (now Westland). The name "Allen Park" originated with General John Allen who lived there during his military service in Northwest Territory before he moved on to become governor of Michigan. In 1851, as part of township reorganization within Macomb County, Allen Park became a town charter member with its own police department under sheriff Thomas Biddle. That same year saw Albion College founded there as well as one year later's establishment of Mt Hope Cemetery which still remains one of Macomb County's most important destinations today for gravesite shopping dating back to Colonial times! In 1865, Gratiot Avenue—the main thoroughfare running through town—was built north from what is now Holland Road; Gratiot Avenue formed what are now side streets northeast from downtown until its current terminus at I-75 just west of Farmington Hills MI

On July 1, 1943 the United States Air Force was activated as a separate branch of the military. The first aerial bombardment of Japan took place on September 3, and one month later on October 1, the USAF began its own air campaign against Japan. The gift history for the USAF begins with General Dwight D. Eisenhower's declaration of war against Japan on December 7, 1941. For the next seven years American bombers flew missions over Japanese cities carrying munitions and supplies to troops fighting in Asia. In 1945, following Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings American forces withdrew from Japan but kept bomber wings operational as part of NATO until 1949 when they were re-activated as an independent unit known as The US Air Forces in Europe (USAF/E). In 1951 USAF units were deployed to South Korea during the Korean War and again in 1953 during Operation Delta Child when North Korea invaded South Korea. From 1951-1953 there was also a deployment to Saudi Arabia where The USAF played a key role in supporting ground operations against Iranian Revolutionary Guards forces operating inside Saudi Arabia. Withdrawn from service after the end of World War II, members of The US Air Force Reserve were reactivated by Congress in 1948 as part of legislation providing for peacetime conscription into the armed services. This initial activation period saw many units converted to jet aircraft due to budget constraints within The Pentagon at that time. Withdrawal from service following Vietnam began in 1973 and by 1975 all active duty USAF installations had been closed or converted into civilian use including those at Kirtland AFB situated east of Albuquerque NM which became home to both CONUSRIP (the Defense Intelligence Agency) and NORAD (the North American Aerospace Defense Command).
Allen Park is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan and the county seat of Washtenaw County. The population was 64,898 at the 2010 census, making it the 12th largest city in Michigan and its 21st largest city by population within Washtenaw County. The City of Allen Park is also one of two cities in Michigan that are both located on opposite sides of the state line – the other being Battle Creek – which has helped make it a crossroads for commerce and culture. The area now known as Allen Park was first settled by French colonists in 1795 as part of Stambrook Township. It was renamed after George Washington when he moved his headquarters from Alexandria, Virginia to Detroit in 1799. In 1824, Washtenaw County was created from parts of Wayne and Oakland counties and formed under territorial government under then-Governor Samuel Latham Jackson. The first post office opened in Allen Park on November 1, 1825; its name honors General James Kieft who served during the War with Mexico (1810-1821). In 1835, Detroit became an incorporated village with three streets called "Main", "Wabash", "Michigan". On July 14, 1837, Detroit annexed what is now part of Allen Park along with nearby Highland Heights to create a new municipality with a population of 10,000 people; this annexation brought much legal jargon into question as residents were still considered citizens or residents within their old municipality despite living on opposite sides of the state line. In 1855, there were only 786 residents in the newly organized town limits; however by 1861 when enrollment reached 1,074 people it had grown to include areas north and west of downtown including portions now known as Dearborn Heights and Warrensville Heights as well as eastside neighborhoods such as Arlington Heights and Oakwood Hills south of I-696 near Belle Isle Beach State Recreation Area. By 1870 over 25% (27 out OF 31) inhabitants lived outside township boundaries while just 5% (3 out OF 31) resided within township limits providing opportunities for growth through annexation both inside and outside Township limits . Despite these challenges annexation continued apace until 1907 when final borders were set for all municipalities forming present day Washtenaw County following acts approved by Territorial Legislature Act No 579 ; those borders remain today (see map below). With increased development coming into Plainfield Township adjacent to eastern Wayne County further expansion never occurred despite significant pushback from Plainfield Township membership/ officials due to fears that additional development would impact Waterford Township which lay immediately adjacent to Plainfield Township across Lake Huron
