The Coast Guard gift history in Coldwater, Michigan began with the establishment of the first Coast Guard station in the town on December 12th, 1851. The town was named after Coldwater Creek which flows through the town. The first Coast Guard ship to be stationed in Coldwater was the brigantine USS Constitution which arrived on February 2nd, 1855. The Coast Guard Station at Coldwater was re-established on September 15th, 1862 when the United States acquired title to Harbor Island from Great Britain. In 1865, a second station was established at Fort Snelling and by 1876 all three stations had been closed due to lack of funding. In 1893, a new station was built at Chippewa Falls and by 1907 it had become operational as a lighthouse. On October 1st 1909 an additional station was built at Belle Isle and it became operational as a radar range on January 1st 1912. In 1916 an engine house and wireless receiving station were added to the lighthouse while in 1928 a shore battery structure (later skeletonized) replaced both antennae posts on Belle Isle. By 1935 however only one buoy remained active at Belle Isle while all other stations had been closed or converted into radar ranges/lighthouses. On October 1st 1943 during World War II Operation Overlord commenced with Admiral dropped his invasion force off Iwo Jima from carriers aircraft carrier USS Midway (CVN 75). As part of this operation Rear Admiral Byrd's Shore Battalion detachment disembarked from USS Cook (BB 43) and landed ashore near Ford Island where they took possession of an Army C-47 cargo plane that they flew back up to their ship carrying General MacArthur's personal effects including his bedding, wardrobe, cups and saucers! This is considered America's first airlift operation!. On November 6th 1945 Rear Admiral Byrd's Shore Battalion detachment sailed again for Iwo Jima where they made contact with Japanese forces once again! After landing reinforcements on Iwo Jima Rear Admiral Byrd led them back ashore towards Honshu where he delivered important news regarding Japan's surrender! rear admiral brydys unit also played significant roles in Operation Crossroads landings along Guam during 1944-1945

Coldwater is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan, located on the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The population was 9,752 at the 2010 census. The name means "cold water" in the Algonquian language. The first permanent settlement in what is now Coldwater was made by fur traders and missionaries in 1809 as part of an effort to convert the local Indians to Christianity. The town site was donated by Judge Augustus Woodward and his wife Catharine Coolidge Woodward during their visit to Coldwater in 1815-16. It became a municipality on December 6, 1860, when it separated from Grand Rapids Township. In 1913, construction began on a cooling tower for the Flint Hills Hydroelectric Plant which would become one of the largest electric generation plants ever built in America; however, World War I interfered with production and operations until 1922 when they resumed under new ownership and management. In 1924, work commenced on another large hydroelectric plant called Holland Park which would provide power for downtown Coldwater until 1957 when it closed due to low energy prices and competition from natural gas plants. During World War II,Coldwater served as an important training ground for army troops stationed along the Upper Peninsula before being evacuated south during September 1945 following Japan's surrender. Coldwater has been hosting various events related to military history since then such as wartime re-enactments and anti-war protests demonstrations that have taken place throughout its history (most notably Occupy Coldwater). Since 2007 there has also been a yearly event known as "Hollywood North", which celebrates American popular culture based around Coldwar era topics like television shows like Cheers or Batman: Year One . A major redevelopment project known as "The Village" took place between 2006-2011 within City limits adjacent to Ford Field including 500 homes, 50 businesses/shops/, 10 schools/daycare centers/, 2 hospitals/medical centers/, 5 golf courses/, 1 airport/. It added more than 3200 housing units (including 100% rented), 150 businesses/, 30 schools/daycare centers/, 4 hospitals/medical center%, 12 golf courses/, 1 airport/. The Village is now considered defunct after experiencing several financial setbacks including property values plummeting and only featuring few new residents over time

Coldwater, Michigan is a small city in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The population was 5,868 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lansing–East Lansing–Dearborn, MI Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area that now makes up Coldwater was first settled by farmers in 1847. The first post office in the town was established in 1851. In 1871, coldwater incorporated as a village and it remained an unincorporated community until 1959 when it became a full-time municipality under the name of Coldwater Village. Today, Coldwater is home to several businesses and universities including Eastern Michigan University, Wayne State University and Midland Community College. The downtown core is home to several museums including the National Museum of American History and Art as well as two professional sports teams: the Detroit Red Wings (a professional ice hockey team) and the Flint Tigers (a college football team).
Coldwater was founded in 1837 by John P. Coldwater and his wife, Jane. The first post office at Coldwater was established in 1838. In 1847, the town became a part of the Marquette County, Michigan area. In 1861, the United States Census reported that Coldwater had a population of 309 people. By 1865, the population had grown to 594 people and it reached its peak in 1870 with 1,711 people. In 1880, the population decreased to 688 people and by 1890 it had decreased again to 476 people. The last census report for Coldwater was taken in 1920 and its population was 341 people.
