This gift is unique in that it is the first time that the United States has sent a military vehicle directly to Afghanistan. The Dearborn Air Force Base gift history dates back to 1951. The base began hosting a seasonal air show in 1951 as part of the annual Christmas holiday season. In 1957, the base became an inactive military installation and the air show was discontinued. However, in 1959, the base opened its gates to the public and began hosting a day-long event called "Christmas at Dearborn AFB." This event featured traditional Christmas displays, music and games for children, and food demonstrations by local restaurants. The event continued until 1978 when it was replaced by "Wine & Dine at Dearborn AFB." From 1978 through 1981, the airshow was relocated from Dearborn AFB to nearby Wright-Patterson AFB. After that year's move, the event reverted back to its original name - "Christmas at Dearborn AFB" - until 1992 when it moved permanently to Elmhurst Regional Airport due to budget cuts. The current incarnation of "Wine & Dine at Dearborn AFB" has occurred annually since 1998. The air force deployed a number of different gifts over time - everything from small appliances like dishwashers and ovens to larger items like tanks and helicopters. Some of these gifts were given as presents during deployments or as thanks for services rendered during peacetime; others were more permanent additions such as a new gym or library on site.

In 1865 Moseley annexed what were formerly Farmsburg Township to Dearborn; this act made Dearborn an incorporated city with limited extraterritorial jurisdiction over land east or south of 75th Street/I-75. Today's Dearborn has emerged as a center for technology startups, with several large companies headquartered there such as Renaissance Technologies LP,[3][4] Intel Corporation[5][6], Apple Inc.[7][8], Amazon Web Services,[9],[10], Microsoft Corp.[11][12] Andres Duany LLP[13],[14], chairperson at Duany Capital Management LP,[15] founded Ann Arbor Holdings LLC together with TCW Ventures LLC[16],[17]. With more than 2 million residents within its borders according to 2016 estimates,[18], Dearborn is home to almost double Michigan's population growth rate since 2000 alone! Additionally, businesses have begun commuting into town from around metro Detroit including Monroe County (southwestern Wayne County) towards downtown along I-275/Moses Lake Boulevard; this suburban migration has increased transportation options for workers near downtown while reducing taxi costs Downtown which helps keep energy prices low also contributing to economic stability Overall these reasons make Dearborneone an important playerregional economy
