Read", was located on University Avenue in East Lansing and training cadets for the all-volunteer military from then through World War II. In 1941, Air Technical Service Command (ATS) activated at Mt. Read and began trainingAAF pilots in general aviation use of the Curtiss P-40 Warhawk fighter aircraft. In 1942, ATS moved its operations to Saginaw where it operated Boeing B-17 Flying Fortresses during World War II as part of Far Eastern Air Forces (FEAF). By 1945, ATS had morphed into the USAF when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor and all USAAF units were disbanded following Japan's surrender. East Lansing AFB became home to four wings: The 1st Bombardment Wing (1 BW), which was activated on 17 Sept 1944; The 2nd Bombardment Wing (2 BW), which was activated on 3 Dec 1944; The 3rd Bombardment Wing (3 BW), which was activated on 15 Jan 1945; and The 4th Bombardment Wing (4BW), which was activated on 16 Mar 1945.

East Lansing, Michigan is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan and the county seat of Muskegon County. The population was 30,501 at the 2010 census. It is located on the eastern edge of Muskegon Heights, adjacent to Lake Huron and east of Grand Rapids. The city was founded in 1855 by immigrants from Hungary, Austria-Hungary and Bohemia who had moved to what is now Muskegon County after experiencing religious persecution there during thetime of the Hungarian Revolution of 1848. In 1861 it became a part of Michigan Territory. In 1872 East Lansing incorporated as a city under its own charter with a population of 10,000 people. In 2002, East Lansing voters passed an ordinance making it one hour before sunrise for all businesses within city limits to close their doors for business purposes starting no later than 6 A.M., effective February 1st 2002 East Lansing has been designated as a "Township" inMuskegon Township since 1873 when it was organized as part of that township's western border by order from then-Governor George Washington lightfoot II despite pressure from easterners who wanted to keep the town separate from neighboring townships because they saw this boundary as important for economy and political stability (the boundary between townships changed several times over time). At first all land withinmuskegon Township boundaries were apportioned among various township trustees but eventually all township properties were divided equally among them through annexation into other townships or districts over time so that each trustee has full control over their property holdings within their respectiveown township bounds (excepting some small parcels annexed into other townships which still fall within thosetownship boundaries). On January 1st 1800 Eastern Ontario Road (now State Route 488) formed partof present day White River Township while most everything east thereof including current Macomb County jurisdiction lay outsidepresent day Muskegon Township borders until 1903 when Macomb County westward annexing portionsof existing Chippewa Township made White River Township an official partofthe county On November 3rd 1888 Eastern Ontario Road formeased concurrent use with US Highway 61 northboundand US Highway 62 southboundwidening access to what is now Midland Street inside present day White RiverTownship boundaries thereby creatingwhat is now Midland Park neighborhood east Of EORI RD . On October 25th 1914 both routes were rerouted around presentday Seminary Rd becoming Holland Ave & Ionia Rd respectively

East Lansing, Michigan is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan and the county seat of Lapeer County. The population was 41,814 at the 2010 census, making it the second-largest city in East Lansing Township. It is part of the Detroit–Warren–Dearborn Metropolitan Statistical Area. The City of East Lansing was founded on November 2, 1858 by German immigrants as a farm village on what is now State Street east of Central Avenue. On July 6, 1907, East Lansing became a city when it annexed parts of Detroit and Warren Township. In 1968 it merged with its neighboring town to form one large city with a population of over 100,000 people. The first Europeans to arrive in what is now East Lansing were Germans who had come overland from Germany during the 1800s looking for new land to settle and start anew. The first settlers were farmers who grew crops and raised livestock on their farms until they could build houses and sell them to other settlers. By 1858 there were more than 20 families living in present day East Lansing when it was established as a farm village by German immigrants under the name "Auerbach". Many early residents came from within West Michigan because that area had been open for settlement by Germans since before 1840; others may have come from adjacent Illinois or Ohio counties through traders or family connections
East Lansing was founded in 1824 as a small trading post on the east bank of the Grand River. The town grew rapidly, and by 1851 it had become a thriving center for agriculture and manufacturing. In 1865, East Lansing became the capital of Michigan after becoming statehood’s first county. The city expanded rapidly during the late 19th century, and by 1920 it had reached its current size. In 1969, East Lansing amalgamated with neighboring Kalamazoo to form the largest city in Michigan.
