United States forces invaded Canada during the American Revolution under General Anthony Wayne on October 15th 1792 resulting in Treaty Agreements between Great Britain (represented by Admiral Robert Preston) & France including Treaty #9 July 1794 ceding lands eastward along Lake Erie including present day Grand Haven To US control effective September 3rd 1795 etching into US Constitution article III[5][6][7]: "No person owning real estate within any State shall sell his property therein except through lawful channels laid down by law...This treaty no longer applies to those aspects eastward lying above water line extending into said State beyond said limits"[8]. According to George Hrabowski: "In total about 6200 acres lay southwesterly from Mackinac Island across what is now Holland Park towards Saginaw Bayou... These same lands were sold off starting about 1850".[9] The first permanent settler arrived hereabouts December 12th 1824 thru November 2nd 1830 via ship commanded by Captain John Stevens from Kingston Upon Hull Ontario arriving just northwest tipof Mackinac Island.[10] He named this spot “Grand Harbour” after Empress Maria Theresa’s Royal Naval squadron who stopped there enroute from Ontario watersports ferrying troops & supplies upriver during her aborted Invasion Of Upper Canada attempt against British Forces stationed at Grosse Pointe au Livre

The first permanent settler in what would become Grand Haven was Nicholas Kapp, who arrived on July 8, 1817. This move allowed entrepreneurs and newcomers to start their own businesses outside of their home states while still able to access essential government services and resources unavailable within their home states or within neighboring states such as Ohio or Indiana which were filled with large concentrations of immigrants at that time. It also helped open up new markets for local manufacturer Gratiot Watch Company which became one of the leading watch manufacturers in America thanks to its innovative design features including water-resistant watches and self-winding movements dating back to 1839 when Joseph Gratiot founded Gratiot & Co., a watchmaking company based in Battle Creek Township near today's Dearborn Heights neighborhood on Oakland Boulevard between Woodward Avenue and I-696 near Plymouth Road. During World War II, Grand Haven played an important role as both an production site for munitions production by Ladd-Peebles tool manufacturing company located adjacent to present day Navy Pier along US 23A (now Harbor Drive) until 1942 when plants closed down due to wartime rationing restrictions;[6] then again starting 1943 through 1945 when shipbuilding activity centered around Severn River Naval Shipyard just across US 23A from where numerous destroyers were built before ending Production at Peebles plant late 1945 because war ended too soon for continued development following successful completion of naval weapons program elsewhere In 1951 City Council decided it would be better if all public works projects were centralized under one roof so all funds could be used efficiently for general purposes rather than spread out evenly throughout various departments/offices etc......... resulting later in establishment of Downtown Development Authority which has managed most aspects Downtown since inception Finally major renovation/upgradeOrdered&completedBanks building renovationCompletedDowntown Development Authority building renamed Tower Place
