In 1951, Don Weisbart began selling beverages at his Hazel Park convenience store under the name “Don’s Grocery”; it would later become known as Don Weisbart's General Store. That same year saw the opening of Jiggs' Coffee House (now called Saks Fifth Avenue), which served Dutch style roasted beans from start to finish – an unheard of concept at that time. In 1957, Don Weisbart sold his interest in Dorsett Coffee Company to Harry Straussinger; Straussinger would continue serving as president until 1978 when he passed away due to cancerous growths in his brainstem literature storage area.. In 1984 Bob Kapp purchased Don Weisbart's General Store and continued operations as Kapp's Coffee House until September 2001 when it closed after fourteen years of operation..
Hazel Park is a small town in Wayne County, Michigan, United States. The population was 2,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Detroit metropolitan area. The name "Hazel Park" comes from the Hazel tree which grows in abundance in this area and its color is often used to describe the general appearance of the town during autumntime. The first settler in what would become Hazel Park was John Burton who arrived on October 15, 1837. He built a cabin near present day North Avenue and Hagerman Road. In 1838, Mr. Burton's wife - Mary Ann - gave birth to their only child, Samuel Haggerty Burton Jr., now known as Samuel Haggerty Ford Sr.. Sam grew up here and later became an officer with the United States Army during World War II; he died in action on September 2nd 1945 while serving with distinction at Iwo Jima Island. The first post office in what would become Hazel Park was established on December 1st 1839 by Jno Fenton with mail delivered from Willoughby until it closed on March 3rd 1840 due to lack of customers. From then until 1861 when it reopened under new management, it served as the village post office located just east ofpresent day North Avenue and Hagerman Road (now Elmwood Drive). On November 4th 1861, Hazel Park incorporated as a township under the authority of Michigan State law following approval by a vote of residents via ballot box. Located immediately north-east of Detroit proper within Wayne County’s boundaries were several former townships: Washtenaw Heights (later Auburn Hills), Highland Township (later Dearborn Heights), Farmington Township (later Southfield), Macomb Township (later Midland Center), Cassopolis Township (later Redford), and Gratiot Township (now Niles). The township had a total population of 924 according to 1860 Census data In 1886 when statehood came about for Wayne County, Hazel Park applied but was not accepted because its land borders did not match those granted to other communities within county limits including Detroit proper where many people felt they were being taken advantage of financially by their own government officials On July 1st 1903 when statehood for Michiganbecame effective all villages within Wayne County became part of one entity called Washtenaw District No 5 so that services could be better coordinated between these villages formatering themselves into district councils each providing services such as water supply etcetera

Hazel Park is a town in eastern Michigan, United States. The population was 9,865 at the 2010 census. It lies on the southern border of Wayne County and is bordered by Clinton Township to the south and east, Forest City to the north, and Cartersville to the west. The name Hazel Park comes from two different sources: John A. Hazel (1795-1867) who settled in what is now Hazel Park in 1827 and his wife Isabella (née French) who arrived in 1829. The first Europeans to visit what is now Hazel Park were French traders in 1789 when they established a fur trading post near present day Detroit. In 1830, John A. Hazel became one of five men chosen by George Washington as part of his "Grand Jury" which met to investigate accusations of treason against President James K. Polk during the American Civil War. John A. Hazel's family continued to live in what is now known as Hazel Park until their deaths in 1967 and 1867 respectively; Isabella moved back into her childhood home after her husband's death but died there six years later from pneumonia contracted while living with him on their farmstead near present day Miami Heights Golf Course located just east of town off Ulysses Road across from IH75 exit 248A). In 1870, William Bendix paid $2,500 for 640 acres of mostly undeveloped land between Priestman Road and Willow Springs Road within what are today Forest City limits; this included land that would become Hazel Park when it was annexed into Clinton Township in 1922 including much of its current territory including parts of present day Detroit Lakeshore beyond present day Grosse Pointe Farms subdivision northwest of town off Shiawassee Street). Hazel Park is a town in Macomb County, Michigan, United States. The population was 12,171 at the 2010 census. The first known permanent European settlers in what is now Hazel Park were a group of seven men from Holland who arrived on July 8, 1795, and named their new village "Hamel" after the then-recently discovered hamlet of Hamel in Holland. The original town site was located near present-day Detroit suburb of Oak Park and was bounded by three other small villages: Belle Isle to the east, Gratiot to the west, and Royal Oak to the north. In 1829, when Macomb County was organized into two districts, part of Hazel Park became one district and part of Detroit Township. On January 1, 1831 – just one year after Macomb County had been divided – Detroit Township absorbed all but a tiny piece of Hazel Park. A post office called "Hazel Park" was established in 1892; it remained open until 1959. The town's name originated with its location near Hamel on Grand River (now I-96). In honor of former Mayor John Fenton (1910–1963), the city built him an identity stone that can be seen outside his old residence at 5497 Woodward Ave., which still stands today as the only remaining building from Fenton's childhood home on Elmwood Avenue in Hazel Park. According to local legend, when Henry Ford began manufacturing automobiles at his Dearborn auto plant in 1943 he ordered his parts made without any lead or zinc for fear it would cause cancer like those caused by arsenic used by some other automakers at that time - this inaugurated Ford's famed "Zinc Plan". He also ordered all aluminum siding removed from most homes early so there would be less chance that rust could form inside during storage/use; this instituted another famous Ford rule!
