The Highland Park Coffee Company was founded in 1915 by Angelo and Florence Giannini. The company became a well-known and respected player in the coffee industry, selling its coffee all over the world. In 1974, the company merged with Roasting Company of America to form Roasting Company Incorporated. The company continued to operate as a separate entity until it was sold to Peet's Coffee Corporation in 1990. Since its inception, Highland Park Coffee has been known for its high-quality coffee beans. Many of their products have been exported to many countries around the world. In addition, their product quality has always been consistent, making them one of the most reliable and well-known coffee companies in Michigan. Highland Park is a small city in the county of Oakland, Michigan, United States. The population was 5,436 at the 2010 census. Highland Park is located on the east side of the Mackinac River and is bordered by Royal Oak to the north, Midland to the east, and Genesee to the south. It lies between Cadillac and Farmington Hills on I-75. The first settlers in what would become Highland Park were farmers who arrived in 1837 from Pennsylvania. They named their new community after a high mountain range in Scotland which they saw as a beautiful place to live. By 1839, many more people had moved into Highland Park from different parts of Michigan and Illinois due to its fertile soil and attractive location. In 1845, the post office was established in Highland Park with J.M. Higginbotham as its first Postmaster General. In 1860, when Wayne County was created from part of Oakland County, Highland Park became one of its initial villages within that new county limited only by its own straight street grid layout instead of being divided into blocks like other villages within Wayne County (which would later become Macomb County). At that time it had a population of just over 100 people living in scattered farmhouses along three streets: High Street; Elmira Road; and Maple Avenue/Highway 9A/9B/10A (now I-275). In 1924 another major change took place when US Highway 12 was extended through town limits becoming concurrent with Michigan State Highway 10 (now I-275) making it possible for residents of neighboring towns such as Midland or Cadillac to attend school together without having to travel down either highway each day! Among those who went about this new development were Mrs. Anna Linn Kapp (known then as "Aunt Anna"), her niece Evalyn Witherspoon Kapp (known then as "Evalyn"), Mrs., Edwin Allbright (known then as "Edwin"), George Sibley (known then as "George"); Edna Maynard French (later known simply as "Mrs."); Alain LaFontaine; Vacationing Detroit attorney Herman Hagedorn; dentist Harvey Sangerfield; carpenter Aube Daley; Harry Saunders; Caryl Fenton Sykes ; Frank Tokarik ; mail carrier Nellie Shores ; Dance Instructor Betty Smith ; Boy Scout Troop 156 - Ernest Purdy Herman Hagedorn also built Market House No 1 on what is now Lakeview Drive which served as his home until his death in 1984 aged 89 years old while living near present day Appleton Road off Farmington Hills Boulevard where he still resides today surrounded by his extensive carpentry collection including some original handcrafted lumber donated by Mr.* Mary Jane Grosse

At this time, beans were Saffron threads which needed to be roasted over an open fire before they could be consumed. The process of roasting beans also took a long time which gave the beans a rich flavor and a longer shelf life. The early Dutch settlers in America also discovered coffee and began to roast their own beans. In 1632, Nicholas Putnam (a Dutchman) traveled to Java and tasted some of the best coffees there before sailing back home with shipments of roasted beans. He then introduced coffee to New England where it started to become popular among the English people. By 1740, coffee had spread throughout North America and was being sold at print shops and grocery stores across the continent. In 1849, Emperor Napoleon I outlawed caffeine because he felt that it interfered with his ability to function as an emperor effectively. Coffee continued to be enjoyed by many people however; in 1850 alone, more than two million bags of ground coffee were sold in France alone! This popularity led to increasing demand for quality beans from growers all over the world who could not keep up with production! As a result of this increased demand combined with advances in technology, bean roasters have been able to develop new ways of marketing their products so as not only reach a wider audience but also maintain high quality standards while on sale online or through brick-and-mortar locations
The first coffee was roasted in Ethiopia by a man named Awad Abdul Samad in the early 1800s. Coffee became popular in Europe and America during the mid-19th century, and was traded between those regions. The first commercially grown coffee beans were picked in Java in 1855.
Highland Park is a city in Muskegon County, Michigan, United States. The population was 24,890 at the 2010 census. Highland Park is part of the Lansing–East Lansing Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in what is now Highland Park was James Macdonald who founded a cabin on the south side of Haggerty Creek in 1824. The first post office was established in 1828 and the first store opened in 1830. In 1836, John J. McLaren settled on a tract of land just east of present-day Highland Park and built McLaren House as his ranch house. In 1840, Scotsman Alexander Gould arrived in Michigan and purchased 1/2 mile (1 km) north of present-day Highland Park from John McLaren for $600. Gould named his new land Highland Park after the highest mountain range in Scotland – Great Glen or Skye – though he never set foot there himself. In 1855, Daniel Davenport came to Michigan from Illinois with his family and landed on Mackinac Island near Marathon Lake where he erected the first gristmill in what is now Muskegon County. Davenport became President pro tempore of the State Senate and later served as Ulysses S. Grant's Vice Presidential running mate during Grant's presidency up until his death at age 82 years old on January 14, 1865 due to an illness not related to campaigning or political activity: only 58 years old when he died). In 1861, Samuel Gompers settled down about one mile (1 km) northeast of present-day Highland Park along Haggerty Creek where today's Gompers Elementary School sits and has been since it was built by General George Armstrong Custer’s father-in-law Augustus Kelley circa1868 (Gould had married Custer’s widow Marie LaFontaine). Gompers ran a small grocery store adjacent to his home before moving into dry goods storage buildings at 4th Street & Ixheim Road NW which stood until 1906 when it was replaced by its current structure (#1401 N 4th St.). After several moves throughout its history including two stints as Headquarters for the American Federation of Labor ( AFL), Gompers' Home Store finally closed within 5 years following Hurricane Andrew which destroyed most businesses around central MI that year (the storm also caused extensive damage to nearby Battle Creek).[1] HALIFAX STORE - building #1401 N 4th St., Original 1906 incarnation
Highland Park, Michigan was founded in 1837. The city was named for the highlands around it, which were first settled by what is now known as the Highland Park community. The city's first mayor was James Gamble. In 1849, the city annexed the town of Albion.
