The town is located on the Muskegon River, and its location makes it an ideal spot for anglers, boaters, and fishermen to take in all that the river has to offer. One of the earliest examples of marine gift giving was when Captain John Denny donated four-dozen wooden cutters to local fishermen in 1824. This donation helped start what would become one of Muskegon Heights' most popular industries - fishing. From then on, marines became a popular holiday gift for friends and family. One such instance where marines were given as gifts was in 1933 when Mrs. Mabel Sutter gifted eight naval torpedoes to her local friends. These torpedoes were used in World War II by the United States Navy to sink Japanese submarines during the Battle of Midway straits. It is interesting to note that these torpedoes still reside at Naval Weapons Station Lake Tahoe in Northern California today - one of America's oldest military installations still using maritime gifts as part of its programming

Muskegon Heights, Michigan is a city in Muskegon County, Michigan, United States. The population was 29,421 at the 2010 census. It is the county's second-largest city and the largest in Muskegon County by area. The city is bordered by Addison Township to the north, Clinton Township to the east, South Holland Township to the south, and Macomb Township to the west. The first Europeans to visit what is now Muskegon Heights were French missionaries in 1796. In 1812 an act of Congress declared Muskegon Heights part of Jackson County. By 1827 Muskegon Heights had become a borough within Jackson County and was known as "the most beautiful town on Earth." In 1830 John James Audubon settled near present-day downtown Muskegon Heights with his family after purchasing land from Simon Cameron. Audubon became one of America's first ornithologists and published many papers on birds during his lifetime including "A Natural History of North America". In 1835–36 Augustus Woodward founded Woodward Academy which he ran until his death in 1862. Woodward was a prominent local figure who helped promote education in MUSKEGON HEIGHTS community during its early years. In 1865 he donated land for what would become Central High School; today’s Central High School was built on that land in 1975. During World War II much activity took place around Central High School at Noe Valley Drive off US 131 where many troops were trained before going into battle overseas. After 1945 Central High School slowly lost its importance as a school but it remains a popular destination for students and parents alike today because of its unique curriculum that covers both academic and athletic programs as well as its location close to downtown MUSKEGON HEIGHTS which makes it easy for students to get around without having any hassle or traffic congestion

In 1492, Christopher Columbus brought ashore what he thought were some expensive spices from India when he sailed his flagship called Santa Margarita in search for new lands. Instead, he discoverysthe Americas-a land that would become known as America. This event is often credited with beginningthe modern era of international commerce and helped spur the developmentof our country's economy. Since then, there have been countless donations of marine objects and memorabilia by people all over the world-some even more famous than others! Some notable donations include: A collection including 478 items donated by Queen Elizabeth II during her visit to Portsmouth Harbour in 1988; An entire ichthyological collection donated byDr Richard Owen in 1828; A hoard of coins attributed to Julius Caesar dating back to AD 44; A complete set (including swords, armor, spears and lamps)of artefacts belonging to Emperor Nero found at Herculaneum; An inventory list listing 1,500 items donated by members of the royal family during an open house at Windsor Castle in 1987; A group of ivory figurines discovered off the coast Of Bora Bora in 1978;;

Muskegon Heights is a village in Muskegon County, Michigan, United States. The population was 524 at the 2010 census. The village was founded in 1872 by John P. Smith and his wife, Eliza Hurlbut Smith, as a part of the town of Albion. The nameakes from the name of the first settler on land that became Muskegon Heights: John Pickering. In 1881, the Village built its first school and Post Office. In 1925, it merged with other villages to form the new City of Muskegon Heights. On July 1, 1927, city government was abolished and replaced by a township government which lasted until 1959 when it also disappeared into merger with other townships in that area. According to the 2002 US Census Bureau report on population changes in Muskegon County since 1990, Muskegon Heights has decreased in population by (-5%) over time - though it remains an active community today with 446 residents as of 2010 census data. This is largely due to decreases in travel rates within Muskegon County for both tourists (as well as job opportunities) following several devastating fires throughout central Michigan during this period; however some reasons for this may include competition among similar sized villages for limited job-ablishments and housing development opportunities near major airports or shopping malls -earseningementally reducing visitation activity across rural areas throughout Michigan following these economic conditions; nevertheless still an active community thanks to its strong volunteer fire department (with 8 engines) and continued importance within local social networks
The Muskegon Heights area was first settled in the early 1800s. The area was originally part of the Fox Township, and later became part of the Muskegon Heights Township. In 1868, the township was renamed to Muskegon Heights after General George Washington Musketeer. The township has been a part of Michigan since it was created in 1868.
