Tactical Coffee was founded in Pontiac, Michigan in 1984 by husband and wife team of businessmen, Rick and Tammy. The company became well known for its unique blend of coffee, which is roasted to perfection in their own roastery. Tactical Coffee has a loyal following throughout the Midwest, with locations in Detroit, Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Louis/St. Peters and Cincinnati. In 1992 Rick Dixon released his first book on the history of tactical coffee called "The Art of Roasting Coffee." This guidebook detailed the process by which Rick's beans are roasted and how they are prepared for sale to consumers. In addition to the traditional roastings such as Sumatra or Ethiopia Hario K-9s were also made available at this time including an experimental dark roast that went head-to-head against some of the world's top roasters. Since then Rick Dixon has written many other books on coffee including: "Brewing with Tim Ferriss" (2011), "Brewing with Bruce Lee" (2013) and most recently "A Traveler's Guide to Good Coffee" (2018). In 2018 he even had his own show on A&E called "Rick Dixon: The Art of Roasting Coffee".
Tactical coffee is a beverage that is typically brewed in order to provide illumination or cover while on the battlefield. Coffee has been traditionally used as a signal to other soldiers and commanders, as well as for its stimulant effects. It can also be used to improvealertness and focus. In many cases, coffee is brewed with different beans specific to the battlefield in mind, such as Arabica beans for strength and flavor, Robusta for medium-term endurance, and Vigna for caffeine content. These particular beans are then ground into a blend so that each drink provides its own unique taste and aroma.
Pontiac, Michigan was once a thriving community and now has a few remaining businesses that offer coffee. Coffee first started being sold in Pontiac in the early 1800s as a way to break the fast before going into battle. The first coffee shop in Pontiac was opened by Nicholas A. Scaulden and his family who lived on Washington Street. In 1881, John Fenton opened the first grocery store in Pontiac and started selling coffee. By 1907, there were six stores operating in Pontiac with fifty-six employees. In 1916, the city of Pontiac passed an ordinance forbidding public drinking andrews cigars which led to the closure of many businesses except for one which continued to sell coffee until it closed its doors in 1977.

There is no one definitive account of how coffee became popular as a drinking beverage. However, the early history of coffee and its various derivatives can be traced back to ancient Sumerian texts that mention the drink in connection with sacred ceremonies. In ancient Greece, coffee was used as an aphrodisiac and also considered a medium for communicating messages between gods and mortals. Additionally, coffee was thought to be helpful in treaties and negotiations. In India, it was even mentioned in the Vedas as one of the five elements that made up the body or “soul”. The first recorded reference to coffee in Britain comes from an account written by Walter Raleigh in 1596. He noted that during his time there were "several excellent roasters" who roasted beans for export to Europe but unfortunately these people went out of business because they did not have enough traffic coming into their ports to support themselves financially. Coffee began arriving in British ports sporadically beginning around 1600AD, but it wasn't until 1690 when tea became the predominant brewing drink in Great Britain that coffee started receiving equal attention from brewers. Over time, different methods for preparing coffee were developed including plunger machines (which force hot water through a filter fitted over a cup) and bakeovens ( which are ovens heated on top of cooking oil). The earliest known espresso machine was created by Giovanni Enrico Marconi in 1895-1996 using two French press filters – one set inside another – making it the world's first practical commercial espresso machine. subsequently more sophisticated machines appeared such as those manufactured by Breville which featured heating element on top of boiler which produced steam instead of water vapor for extraction; this allowed greater control over strength, temperature and quality of resulting espresso drinks

Pontiac is a city in the southeast corner of Michigan, United States. The population was 33,851 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Oakland County. Pontiac was founded by George Washington Carver in 1875 as a small town on the Detroit River. It became a municipality in 1892 and then an independent city in 1912. Pontiac was named after General John Pountney, who led American forces against Native Americans during the War of 1812. The first post office at Pontiac opened on October 17, 1872, and was called "Canton." The name "Pontiac" originated with General John Pountney, who served as its first mayor. He chose that name because it sounded like "the Post Office at Potomac." In 1898, Pontiac annexed part of Grand Rapids and became its second largest city; this annexation created an urban-rural contrast that has continued to be observable today. In 1916, Pontiac annexed what is now Muskegon Heights and become its third largest city; this annexation created another urban-rural contrast which has continued to be observable today. In 1927, Pontiac merged with three other cities: Dearborn Heights (now Detroit), Highland Park (now Hamtramck), and Royal Oak (now Northville). This merger increased the size of pontiac from 3 to 10 square miles (8 to 24 square kilometers). However, only Dearborn Heights and Highland Park survived until their respective mergers into larger cities in 1975 and 1996 respectively; the rest were absorbed into Detroit or Hamtramck. Today's economy depends largely upon automotive manufacturing; however, other industries have also been burgeoning since 2000 when Ford Motor Company installed a new engine plant here known as both Assembly Plant 1 and Assembly Plant 2 which helped create jobs for many people across all sectors of our local community There are currently over 1700 employed within our company alone here in downtown Pontiac - making us one of America’s “Most Worked Cities” according to Forbes magazine Our industry has generated large amounts of investment throughout our region – including $2 billion invested by Chrysler Group LLC alone since 2009 – helping us stay afloat during some tough times while creating thousands more jobs statewide Today we know that hard work pays offBig!
