The Marine Museum of Riverview, Michigan has a rich history dating back to the early days of the town. The collection features more than 1400 objects from various phases of marine life and maritime history. The museum was founded in 1907 by Mrs. Alice L. Dowling and Dr. Wm. Hickey as the Dowling-Hickey Maritime Museum. It moved to its current location on Market Street in 1916, after being donated by Mrs. Anna Burtis Cowles and her husband, Jerald Cushman Cowles. In 1947, the museum became part of the University of Michigan system and changed its name to the University Marine Museum (UMM). In 1990 it again became part of the University of Michigan system when it merged with their School of Arts and Sciences division, which had been formed in 1988 as part of a larger reorganization within UM System that eliminated most academic divisions except for those that offer undergraduate degrees or graduate programs in arts and sciences. Today’s UMM is one of several institutions within UM System that houses special collections related to maritime history and culture.. The UMM’s holdings include items from throughout world oceans including artifacts from Antarctica, Greenland, Bermuda, Canada (including tools used by Arctic Eskimos), Japan (Soto Maru), San Francisco Bay Area (the first permanent European settlement in California), Pearl Harbor Collection (items recovered during World War II), American Samoa Collection (a gift from Samoa government), Greek Island Collection ( gifts from Greece) and more!

Riverview is a census-designated place (CDP) in the Calhoun County, Michigan, United States. The population was 2,868 at the 2010 census. Riverview is part of the Grand Rapids metropolitan area. The town of Riverview was organized on December 12, 1871, byDr. Edwin S. Love andDr. John Dickey from New Haven Township in the township of Ionia in Chippewa County. This was during a time when there were no townships and only single-member districts. The first post office was established at "Riverside" on February 14, 1872; it closed on May 1, 1886 due to low mail volume and lack of competition from other towns in the district. On January 3, 1882, a second post office called "Farmington" was opened at Farmington Heights northeast of present day Riverview proper on what is now US 231 south of M-10 crossing after farmstead owned by Isaac Sibley became known as "river view". On January 10th same year another post office called "Haven" opened at an abandoned lot east side of river near present day Mt Pleasant Road bridge across river just north of where today's intersection with Old Route 131 (now Hwy 231) & M-10 lies This post office served until November 30th 1906 due to low mail volume also because postal service had ceased between Detroit & Grand Rapids following the American Civil War In 1907 Cooksville Post Office opened at what is now Delta Drive SW off Ionia Rd next to Great Lakes Brewing Co It closed March 1st 1957 In 1912 Indian Head Lake Lighthouse began operating as a lighthouse but this continued until 1949 when it converted into an auto pool In 1922 White Sands Lighthouse #1 began operations as a lighthouse but this continued until 1959 when it converted into an auto pool In 1923 Whiteshall Marina opened which included some pier land along with hotel/motel buildings including casino and swimming pool which remain today It continues operation as current Haven Marina even though its site sat adjacent to current Highway 231 for over 70 years

The Riverview community in Michigan is a history-rich community that has been around for over 100 years. The community begins with the arrival of European settlers in the mid-19th century. The first permanent settler in Riverview was John McNaught, who immigrated from Ireland in 1843. McNaught and his family began to live in what is now the heart of the community, on a small island in the riverbed. By 1850, however, McNaught had acquired more land and built a home on what is now Main Street. In 1892, Riverview became an incorporated town when it was annexed by Detroit. It remained an incorporated town until 1971, when it was merged into Metro Detroit County. In that year, it became a unincorporated community again. Riverview is located along the Saginaw River near its confluence with the Maumee River. The area was once forested and contains many old growth trees which remain significant today due to their natural protection from fire and vandalism. The river provides excellent fishing opportunities as well as being a popular spot for swimming and boating during summer months; both activities are also popular among residents. The communities of Riverview and Highland Park are adjacent to each other on either side of I-94W; these two villages offer separate shopping options as well as different cultural attractions unique to both neighborhoods (e.g., art galleries, theater productions). Additionally, there are several miles of hiking trails within reach of both communities should visitors feel inclined to venture outdoorsy pursuits outside of their daily routine(s). As one might expect from such rich history associated with this locality, there have been numerous changesover time throughout its existence – most notably during World War II when much of the neighborhood changed hands between German American families who were displaced by war efforts and then taken back by UAW Local 651 workers who continued production while they were livingElsewhere at Ford Dam; after which point most homes were reoccupied by local farmers or their families until established recreational properties arrived soon thereafter (e.g., Highland Park Golf Course) Roscoe Peele House served as Metro Detroit’s first post office from 1895-1896 before becoming part of State University Of Michigan’s School Of Medicine & Dentistry facilities upon its opening nearby in 192411 ; finally closing its doors permanently after just three decades following demolition permission having been granted only six months prior12 .
Riverview is a census-designated place in the Kalamazoo, Michigan community of Riverview Township. The population was 2,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Muskegon Heights Micropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in what is now Riverview arrived on July 10, 1836 when five families from Canada came through the area on their way to Mackinac Island. They named the small tract of land after a river near their home in Nova Scotia: the Ottawa River. The first post office at Riverview was established in 1838, and it remained in operation until 1907. In 1871, three brothers – Elijah Hoadley, John Hoadley and Moses Hoadley – built a logging cabin on what is now Park Road east of present-day Village Drive. The family would continue to own and operate this business until it closed its doors in 1951. On November 3, 1886, the village of RiverVIEW was organized with a population of 86 residents under the leadership of Drs. Daniel Jandreau and Isaac LaFontaine; they were also responsible for creating all municipal functions within RiverVIEW including road maintenance/repairs as well as electioneering and public health care services which remain unchanged to this day! It should be noted that not all residents withinRiverVIEW voted to form the village; some chose instead to live within Muskegon Heights or even outlying villages such as Westville or Eastpointe which later joined forces with RiverVIEW during annexation by Muskegon Heights in 1961!
