The history of coffee in Romulus, Michigan goes back to 1847. The first coffee beans were grown in the area and roasted on an old farmstead known as the Log Cabin Coffee House. In 1881, a small roaster called Dutch Bros. began serving coffee from a small shop next door. The business grew and by 1912, it had moved to its current location, which remains today as the oldest continuously operating roastery in Michigan. In 1922, Romulus became home to its very own coffee roastmasters when Joe Ficarra opened his business at 5th & Hudson Streets. Over time, other businesses have also come and gone; but it is Joe's restaurant that has long been recognized for its quality coffees and delicious pastries. In recent years, Joe's has become a haven for local farmers market customers who enjoy their freshly roasted beans any time of day or week!

The Romulus coffee company was founded in 1912 by George A. Romero and his brother, Harry Romero. The company produced beans from start to finish, roasted in their own shop on the northeast side of town. In 1916, the Romulans switched from a hand-roasted process to an automated one that used a conveyor belt system. The company continued to produce beans until it closed its doors in 1984.
The Roman city of Romulus was founded in the late 8th century BC by Etruscan settlers. The city rose to prominence under the rule of King Lucius Tarquinius Superbus, who built a great wall around it and established an army. In 509 BC, Rome was sacked by the Gauls, and Romulus henceforth became its symbol of strength. In 476 BC, Romulus was taken captive by the Gauls and delivered to Rome as a spoil of war. The following year, he was raised to the status of god and founded the first Roman solar temple on Capitoline Hill. In 452 BC, Romulus married Remus’ sister Lavinia and they had two children: twins brother Mars (later Quirinus) and sister Minerva (later Minerva). On 15 July 449 BC, during his reign as emperor Nero, Romulus is said to have ordered construction of a new golden palace on Palatine Hill in order to demonstrate his power as emperor. This palace is now known as Imperial Palace or Palazzo della Cancelleria. The ruins of this palace can be seen today at Via del Colosseo. Rome rose once again to prominence under Emperor Constantine I in 313 AD when he moved the capital from Rome to Constantinople in order to protect Christianity from persecution by orthodox Muslims. Under Constantine’s rule, Roman art reached its peak with examples such as Trajan’s Column and Hadrian’s Wall paintings. However, in 395 AD Constantine was overthrown by his son Valentinian III and Rome fell into disarray for nearly four centuries until it finally regained its former splendour with Emperor Francis I in 1806 AD. Today there are several important Roman sites including Colosseum which is one of Europe’s most famous tourist destinations; Villa Giulia – home of Augustus Caesar; Forum Antico – one of Rome’s most important squares; Viminal Tower – also known as Vatican Tower – where Pope John Paul II spent his last days before being buried within it; Piazza Venezia – home of St Peter’s Basilica;and Porta Maggiore - named after Benedict XVI because it served as his transit point between Sistine Chapel and Castel Sant'Angelo while he was visiting Italy

The city of Romulus, Michigan was founded in 1837 by the United States government as a site for an experimental military fort. The fort was named after the god Saturn, and it served as a base of operations for the U.S. Cavalry during the 1840s and 1850s. In 1862, Romulus became a town under the jurisdiction of Macomb County. In 1868, Romulus was incorporated as a village and in 1870 became a city. The city's first mayor was John Fenton and its first police officer was James Pappas. The city grew rapidly during the late 19th century, reaching its peak in population in 1907 with over 50,000 residents. However, throughout most of the 20th century Romulus experienced significant decline due to economic factors such as loss of manufacturing jobs and reductions in funding for public services. In recent years, however,Romulus has begun to experience renewed growth thanks to various initiatives including new housing developments and increasing tourism spending.
Romulus is a small township in St. Clair County, Michigan, United States. The population was 962 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Lansing–East Lansing Metropolitan Statistical Area.
