St. Clair Shores, Michigan is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan and the county seat of St. Clair County. The population was 54,914 at the 2010 census. It lies on the border of both states and has been part of Kent County since 1824. The city's history date back to 1824 when it was organized as a village by settlers from Illinois who arrived in search of land to settle after the signing of the Treaty of Paris ending the American Revolution. A post office called "St Clair" was established in 1827, and became an incorporated town in 1835. The name "Shores" originated from nearby Muskegon Bay which residents used to refer to their landing place on what is now Grand Island because it had no other name than that at that time. On August 12, 1937, during World War II, St Clair Shores was hit by a Luftwaffe bomb which destroyed many buildings including most of its civic center and hospital complex known as "The Fortress". The bombing also killed 14 people and injured over 50%. After much deliberation, St Clair Shores opted not to build a new civic center but instead built an all-steel training tower known as The Tower which still stands today with its own museum inside (the Muskegon Heights Museum). In 1957, St Clair Shores merged with neighboring Manton Township to form what is now called Manton Township–St Clair Shores School District No 2 (). That same year saw another merger when Highland Park Elementary School moved into what is now called Highland Park Middle School while White Oak Intermediate School closed leaving only two schools for students in grades 6 through 8 in downtown St Clair Shores (it reopened as White Oak Jr./Sr./junior high school after being demolished). Additionally, Eastman Community College opened up shop downtown soon after opening its doors in 1961 offering evening classes for high school students too late for morning classes at nearby Mackinac Community College (now Midwestern University). In 1966 Central Catholic High School opened up shop just east of downtown (now part of Eastman) providing instruction for elementary students until 1976 when it closed down due to poor facilities conditions; however Eastman continues to offer evening classes today until 5pm each day for high school students too late or unable to attend morning classes at nearby Mackinac Community College whereupon they are sent off into separate classrooms away from other children! Finally in 1978 Moorpark Elementary School relocated across White Oak Road from Central Catholic High School making way for one large classroom/ Learning Commons facility serving grades K-8th followed by two smaller classrooms/clubs serving grades 9-12th before finally moving out into their own building adjacent to Central Catholic High School proper! This last move allowed all grade levels within central Sturgeon Creek Valley neighborhood now enjoy significant common space without having TOO MUCH competition!!!

It also conducts training and doctrine development for other branches of the U.S armed forces as well as conducting nuclear deterrence patrols over international waters or airspace within threatened regions such as North Korea or Iran. St. Clair Shores, Michigan is a village in the U.S. state of Michigan and is part of the Grand Rapids-Wenatchee-Mattawa Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 9,604 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lansing–East Lansing-Dearborn Combined Statistical Area. The Village of St. Clair Shores was organized in 1871 when residents from nearby Detroit united with settlers from other towns in Oakland Township to form the Village of Highland Park Township on what is now State Road 2 south of town. The name "St. Clair" came from an Indian word meaning "bridge over a stream." In 1887, when Highland Park Township merged into Washtenaw County, St. Clair Shores became one of its villages and took on its current name, which it has held since 1959 when it joined Washtenaw County as a result of the Mapp v Weiss decision (see United States Supreme Court Decision Mapp v Illinois). According to village historians, early inhabitants were primarily farmers who raised corn and cattle on their own land or along roads they built themselves using Native American labor during times when transportation was difficult or nonexistent. By 1870 there were several hotels and stores in town and many people were employed by local businesses including shipbuilding companies active along Superior Avenue during the early 19th century; lumberyards that processed wood for buildings and cars; machine shops that made radios, typewriters, phonographs, automobiles and other products; horticulture businesses such as flowershops selling seeds for vegetables orchards or privet hedges; cedar Point amusement park based out of a warehouse near downtown that opened in 1901 attracted workers from all over western Michigan; various breweries supplying beer to area grocery stores; dairy operations feeding local markets with milk from cows brought into town for processing at local mills; schools: two wooden churches (one functioning as a schoolhouse until about 1880) erected soon after settler arrival while brick buildings began to be erected later Includes three sites mentioned earlier but never documented as being within modern village boundaries: one near present day intersection OF SR 2 & MLK Jrwy & one just east OF MLK Jrwy off W Shetland Rd
In 1837, the first white person to set foot on what is now St. Clair Shores was Captain John Hull. Hull was instrumental in developing the area as a landing place for fur traders and missionaries. The town of St. Clair Shores was founded in 1839 by Augustus Saginaw and his family. By 1850, there were over 200 residents in the town of St. Clair Shores. The town became a village in 1858 and then a city in 1893. In 1916, the City of Detroit annexed St. Clair Shores as part of its territory when it merged with other cities within the Detroit metropolitan area
