The coffee shop was started in 1909 by Mrs. Burt Connelly and her husband, John Dormer Connelly. This business was called the Blue Bottle Coffee Shop and it served fresh brewed coffee from small tanks on the property. In 1969, Mrs. Connelly's son, Bernie Connelly opened a second store called the Bean Bag Coffee Shop which became an institution in Walker. Bernie Connelly passed away in 2006 but his son, Scott Connelly continues to operate the store today under the name of Bean Bag Coffee & Tea Company. The history of Walker's coffee industry can be traced back to when Native Americans would bring over their beans and grind them into powder for use as tea orcoffee. In 1853, Danish immigrant Ole Hansen began trading goods at Fort Michilimackinac with local Indian traders before opening his own trading post near what is now downtown Walker. Hansen named his trading post The Store at The Falls because of all of the waterfalls around it - including The falls itself - which he used as a source of water for his beans and other goods he sold from his post. Hansen also traded with British traders who operated out of Green Bay so there must have been some connection between these two groups of traders! In 1907, Drury Lane Coffee Roasters opened its doors in downtownWalker with pioneering efforts at world-class roasting techniques followed soon thereafter by otherWalker businesses such as Dutch Bros., J&J Tobacco Co., DeLorean Cigar Emporium and many more! These businesses helped create a foundation that has continue to grow throughout recent years with new locations opening up all around town! Today, Walker boasts over 60 independent coffee shops serving delicious drinks made right here in our community!

Walker is a town in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Detroit–Warren–Dearborn metropolitan area and is located on the Grand River between Detroit and Warren. Walker was named after General George Armstrong Custer, who fought in the American Civil War. Walker was founded in 1871 by John A. Walker, a Missouri farmer and landowner who had moved to what is now Lansing from Tiffin County, Ohio to take up land that had been offered him as part of the Treaty of Paris following the American Civil War. In 1872, Walker sold his interest in Walker's Ferry Company to Wm Hite for $1,000; this company later became known as Hite-Walker Ferry Company). The first post office opened in Walker on July 10, 1875. In 1892, an oil well was drilled near present-day Walker by Jens Jensen & Sons Oil Co.; soon thereafter much development occurred around that well with various mills being built along the river such as Phelps Dodge Paper Mill (now Phelps Dodge Corp.), First National Bank (now HSBC), First Michigan National Bank (now ING Bank), and others until 1938 when it merged into United States Steel Corporation which still operates it today as its primary mill complex including six paper plants plus two aluminum smelters/pulp mills adjacent to one another on opposite banks of the river just upstream from downtown Walker

Walker was a small community in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan until it was annexed by Detroit in 1834. The town had been founded by John Walker, one of the original white settlers in Michigan, in 1824. It grew rapidly due to its location on the Western Branch of the Kawkawa River and its easy access to transportation. By 1830, Walker had a population of about 100 people. In 1834, Walker was incorporated as a village and became part of the City of Detroit. Walker's growth stopped after Detroit annexed it. The town declined both economically and physically over the next few decades. In 1900, Walker had only 10 residents and no businesses. By 1970, it had only 4 remaining residents and 2 businesses. Despite its poor health status, Walker continued to be visited by historians and tourists throughout the 20th century because it is an excellent example of what can happen when communities are incorporation into larger cities without much support from their own governments or citizens.
Walker was founded on October 15, 1835, by wagon driver John Walker. The first store in the town was built in 1836, and the first post office was established in 1840. The town grew rapidly, and by 1860 it had a population of over 100 people. In 1865, Walker became the county seat of Ottawa County. The growth of the city led to the erection of several buildings in Walker that still stand today including the original courthouse building and a jail. In 1886, Walker merged with neighboring village of Milton to form what is now known as Huron City. The city experienced rapid growth during both World Wars; within a decade it had reached a population of over 1,500 people. However, during World War II the city experienced significant damage from aerial bombing raids; many homes were destroyed or damaged and reconstruction took many years. After the war ended, Walker began to decline again; its population decreased until it hit its low point in the early 1970s. However, since then there has been an increase in business activity and development within the city limits;Walker is now one of Michigan's most vibrant cities.
