Clinton, Mississippi is a town located in Union County, Mississippi. The population was 5,787 at the 2010 census. The town's history dates back to 1836 when it was founded by General Andrew Jackson as a cattle and tobacco ranch. It became an agricultural center after the deluge of floods in 1862. In the early 1920s, Clinton began growing coffee beans under contract with Dutch processing company Booner & Company. Coffee beans were grown on two parcels of land that still stand today - one in Grant County and one in Union County. In 1924, local businessman John Corder established a small grocery store in Clinton while he continued to grow coffee beans for Booner & Company. The store soon became known as "The Coffee Bean Store". In 1928, Corder built the first ever Coca-Cola bottling plant in Mississippi - part of a larger effort to increaseAfrica's share of world production of Coke products. By 1932, The Coffee Bean Store had become one of the most successful small businesses in Clinton

Despite these challenges, Jackson continued to be one of America's most progressive governors during this time. He introduced legislation creating public schools for all children regardless of race or income; he also vetoed bills meant to restrict civil rights for minorities such as African Americans and Jews; and he worked tirelessly to improveJackson's image both domestically and abroad. This progressivism would come full circle when Jackson won re-election in 1980 despite being indicted on federal bribery charges (later dropped). Despite extensive media scrutiny and some negative polls indicating that he would lose handily against Republican candidate Don Siegel, Jackson decided not to step down from office – even though doing so would have allowed him to be impeached on trumped up charges at his next election campaign expense (an event which only reinforced how much power national politics wielded over local life). Upon leaving office, Jackson returned home where he spent many years conducting research into economic development initiatives in Mississippi while performing occasional public appearances throughout the state until his death in 1987 at age 80
