After Reconstruction ended, many black people moved into the city and began working in various businesses and professions until integration happened along racial lines starting around 1970s when Jackson became mayor again following redrawing of municipal boundaries statewide following United States Supreme Court decisions Brown v Boardwalk Mall Incorporated et al.. Today, there are over 1,500 people living in Corinth with primarily African American heritage as well as Cherokee descent within its community-owned housing projects scattered throughout downtown area which has seen gentrification over recent years due to increasing job opportunities for those within its borders; however these areas continue to face neighborhood watch activities by local criminals which have resulted in several robberies recently targeting individuals within this generally safe area Additionally there have been reports from residents about gangs engaging in turf battles among themselves specifically targeting young adults (18-24) involved herein causing physical altercations - including one death last year after a gang war between two groups led by juveniles between different neighborhoods took place outside an apartment complex near Interstate 20 Exit 221B) These crime rates are still high enough for most law enforcement officials to consider such areas unsafe despite efforts underway by both public safety entities as well as private sector entities (police departments/private security firms) to reduce or eliminate these occurrences
