They started out with whole beans and would roast them on their family’s farm before selling them to local men who would grind them into coffee. In the 1940s, another Italian immigrant named Giovanni Pappalardo imported a large machine from Italy that he used to roast beans for himself and his friends. This machine was so powerful that it even burned down one of Pappalardo’s fields while he was using it! In the 1950s, two brothers named Johnnie and Bob began roasting their own beans on their farmstead. They used an old French press to roast their beans until they came up with the first modern espresso machine which they installed in 1957. Since then, Mccomb has had its own unique brand of roasted coffee named “J&B Coffee” which is still popular today. Mccomb also experienced some big changes during this time period. In 1963, when Gertrude Jourdain opened her restaurant called The Olive Garden within walking distance of where she lived, she became the first woman to open a successful business in Jackson County. This led to more people coming to town and discovering what all the fuss was about with fresh roasted coffee! In 1976, Angelo Pappalardo passed away; however, his legacy lives on through J&B Coffee who continue to roast great quality beans today!

The history of coffee in McComb, Mississippi started with two men - David and Harry Hill. In the early 1920s, David and Harry decided to start their own coffee shop. They named their business The Coffee House, and for the first few years they roasted all of their own beans. In the 1940s, The Coffee House moved to its current location on Meridian Street. There, they continued to roast their own beans until the early 1970s. From then on, the business was run by Harry's son-in-law - Bud Hickey. Bud ran it until he passed away in 2006. His grandson - Cody Hickey - continues to run it today as CEO/General Manager.

The first post office was established in 1854. McComb became a city on April 2, 1907. On December 20, 1912, it merged with nearby Quitman to form the new city of Jackson. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 1,829 people, 673 households, and 576 families residing in the town.[2] The population density was . There were 712 housing units at an average density of . Mccomb, Mississippi is a town in Hancock County, Mississippi, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jackson metropolitan area. The first settlers in McComb were farmers and their families who arrived in 1814 from Illinois. The town was named for General Andrew Johnson McCombs who had led a wagon train through the region on its way to Memphis. In 1847, John Swayne founded the village of Sparta which became McComb when he bought land there from Nicholas Moore. By 1880, only 350 residents lived in McComb while a total of 5,000 people lived in Jackson and Meridian counties combined. In 1907, due to an increase in cottonseed production caused by the Louisiana Purchase (the purchase of Missouri and Texas), Congress appropriates $3 million for municipal improvements including road construction and water systems in Jackson and Meridian counties as well as Mound City near Decatur. This money was used to build new schools and churches as well as add public baths and parks throughout the community. The towns of Sparta and McComb merged into one entity on April 24th 1912 under Mayor Clements Hinson with voting being open to all citizens over 21 years old regardless of race or sex. In 1932–1933 former State Senator Huey P Long was elected mayor after running unopposed on a platform that would improve education opportunities for African Americans within town limits while keeping white businesses closed during racial segregation laws which applied mostly to black Mississippians living outside Jackson County boundaries In 1964 Iron Range Corporation begins operations along I-10 north of Mccombs with plans to build a munitions plant adjacent to what would become World War II Plant No 4 (now known as Midland Energy). With racist legislation still extant throughout most portions of America at this time many Mississippians refused any affiliation with this plant even though it would cause great economic decline for their community; however they did eventually acquiesce when state government announced plans call for increased military spending associated with Project Midland 0n November 9th 1966 Mccombs falls victim to arsonist attacks resulting in more than $1 million damage done including entire business district Thanks largely to his work with local churches/orphans are able to rebuild quickly
Mccomb, Mississippi was founded in 1818 by frontiersman John McComb. The town became a major center of cotton production and commerce during the antebellum period. In the 1830s, McComb developed a strong political career as a member of the Mississippi Territorial Legislature. He helped inspire Mississippi's annexation into the United States in 1840. McComb served as secretary of state from 1845 to 1849 and as governor from 1850 to 1851. During his time in office, he vigorously promoted education and modernization in Mississippi. He also championed abolitionism and Hispanic rights. McComb's deathbed request for an Episcopal priest was granted and Reverend David Laird arrived in Mccomb on April 3, 1852, to begin services that day. As Head Priest of First African Methodist Episcopal Church of Mccombsinium (FAME), Laird led its growth until his retirement in 1913. Today FAME is one of the largest black churches in America with more than 2,500 members across twenty-five U.S. states
