It is home to the maga coffee company, which is known for its annual "Maga Coffee Festival." The festival features local and international music, art, food and beverage vendors, and more. In 1892 Moss Point had a post office with ZIP code 39061. In 1907 it had a school district with ZIP code 39501. In 1951 it had a maga coffee company with ZIP code 38601. The maga coffee company was founded by John Daley in 1948 as an attempt to revive interest in coffee beans from farmers in Brazil who were selling their beans directly to consumers instead of through middlemen like Starbucks or Dunkin' Donuts. Daley believed that buying beans direct would ensure better quality because he knew how much effort his buyers put into growing and roasting their own coffee. Daley's initial business model involved selling coffeepots made from recycled aluminum cans which he roasted himself at his farmhouse on US Highway 90 just outside of town. He soon became successful enough that he decided to open up his own factory producing more expensive machines that could be bought by larger grocery stores and other commercial institutions throughout the south. By 1988 there were over 100 maga coffee companies operating throughout the south with production centers located in Alabama (Birmingham), Georgia (Atlanta), Louisiana (New Orleans), Miami Beach (Miami), Jacksonville (Jacksonville), Dallas/Ft Worth (Dallas/Fort Worth), Corinth ( Corinthia ), Baton Rouge (Baton Rouge ), Shreveport-La Multiplication Company Incorporated(Shreveport) , Tupelo-Gulfport . These companies produced millions of cups of medium roast Java per day all across the southern United States
