In 1904–05, KC hosted the World's Columbian Exposition[15], which attracted over 135 million visitors who created more than $50 billion economic impact across eight states or Canada.[16][17]. The city has since gone through numerous waves of growth with annexations from other municipalities such as Olathe to Shawnee Mission before coming back under its own rule following its incorporation into MO on November 3, 1907,[18]:2d [19]:314
