In 1955, the Army Base Coffee Shop became known as The CoffeeHouse and began serving what is now considered the world's first Tactical Coffee. The popularity of tactical coffee grew rapidly throughout the 1960s and 1970s due to its simplicity and easy-to-use recipes. Kennett is a town located in St. Francois County, Missouri, United States. The population was 2,611 at the 2010 census. Kennett is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. The community of Kennett was founded by pioneers who came to the area in 1818. The first post office was established in 1820 and the first store was opened in 1825. A school was built in 1827 and a Methodist Episcopal church was built in 1830. The name Kennett comes from George Kennett, who settled here in 1818 and homesteaded land that he bought from Thomas Neely on October 3, 1800. In 1830, George's grandson John Sargent married Rachelle (Piper) Cobbold of nearby Waco; their children were born here as well: James Prentice Sargent (baptized December 6, 1830), Mary Elizabeth Cobbold (died young), Sarah Jane Sargent (married Alfred Hutton). In 1865, when St. Francois County became Kanawha County, parts of what are now Kennett and Westphalia were included within Kanawha County proper; however these areas reverted back to Saint Francois County after Kanawha's abolition on November 1st of that year along with all other counties within it except for Randolph and Wyandotte Counties which formed Kansas Territory on January 14th - this left Kennett alone within St. Francois County once again until February 22nd when all but one county within Kansas Territory - Crawford - merged into it as well due to pressure from Congress following the Lone Star Crisis over Texas annexation into American Union Today'sKennett is still largely rural with a small amount of commercial development; however there are several businesses that serve the agricultural industry including a Grain Elevator & Storage Company which dates back to 1930 and an All-purpose Store which is open seven days a week since 1924 CIA agent Allen Dulles lived here briefly during World War II while working at Morningside Air Force Base before moving to his current home across country

In 1786, Samuel Kennett and his brother John founded the town of Kennett in what is now Springfield Township. The town was named after Samuel's father, who died while serving in the French and Indian War. In 1819, the town became a village when four other towns in Johnson County merged to form the new Missouri Territory. The Village of Kennett lasted until 1827 when it merged with neighboring Village of Wellston to form the current city of Springfield.
