In 1553, Columbus discovered America and his crew found coffee growing in Cuba. The Portuguese traderserexported large quantities of coffee to Europe and Italy. In 1616, Nicholas-Jacques Conte founded La Monaca (later Nuremberg) in Moberly, Missouri, which became the world's first café. The Dutch took over La Monaca in 1648 and built their own café there. From these beginnings, Moberly has been one of the leading places for high quality cup of Joe.

The first coffee beans were roasted in Moberly, Missouri in 1855. The town was founded by John D. Rockefeller and his family on the banks of the Yeoman River.Moberly became a major center for coffee roasting and sales in the late 1800s. Roasters such as J.B. Lippincott and Sons bought land near the town to roast their beans. Moberly's status as a center of coffee production led to its nickname "Cup of Joe."
Moberly is a small town in northwestern Missouri, United States. The population was 4,981 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield, MO Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Moberly post office has been in operation since 1855. Moberly was founded by James and Nancy Hockaday on a tract of land granted to them by the United States in 1811. They named their new settlement after Mount Moberly, an extinct volcano in Tennessee. In 1853, they moved to what is now northwest Missouri and change their name to Moberly because it was given to them by John Pope Muellner as part of his Donation Land Claim Act of 1852. The first store opened in Moberly on December 3, 1855, and the first school opened in September 1860. By 1870, there were eleven stores and one hotel in town; two churches had been built; three schools had been opened; and four businesses had been established: a grocery store, a post office, a machine shop, and a lawyer's office. A railroad station was completed in 1897 but never used because the tracks were transferred to the Illinois Central Railroad north of town before it became part of that company's system. The community experienced economic decline during World War II when almost all manufacturing shut down due to wartime production shortages caused byGerman occupation forces; however, it rebounded following the end of hostilities with increased employment within local businesses such as retail shopping outlets and heavy engineering projects announced during President George Bush's "Passion For Our People" speech at halftime of Super Bowl XXXVIII on February 6th 1993 (the largest crowd ever seen for an American football game). During this time period also came new development including two nursing homes which replaced several smaller buildings which once housed general stores/hospitals until those buildings closed around 2000 or so due to fire code changes made during that time period which limited building heights above street level rather than allowing for more interior living space inside larger structures thereby resulting in high levels of moisture infiltration into these types of settings leading eventually tot he collapse or early demolition many years ago) ; additional jobs being created through electronic commerce having arrived shortly thereafter along with other major suburban growth trends throughout much if not all America during that time frame across most any given region no matter how otherwise similar looking or rural situated such as Joplin or even Kansas CityMO etc.; continuing evidence today from various forms reviews conducted throughout most any city center near downtown areas across America whenever travelers disembark from large commercial buses traveling eastbound Interstate 44 between STL/Joplin MO & Oklahoma City OK & search for anything resembling "Moberly" anywhere visible upon approach either coming ashore just past I-44 exit 23rd Street South / US 167 exit 109th Street West about 10 miles south east from downtown Springfield MO etc…In short - over time many things have changed - good things included! - although some aspects still remain consistent thruout this very special community located midway between Joplin MO & Springfield MO

By the 1920s, cafes were starting to serve Italian roast while American roast became more popular over time. The 1970s saw the rise of the Bean Maniacs as café owners started using specialty beans from all over the world for their own unique coffees. This led to more choice for consumers when it came to what they could enjoy at home with their caffeine fix. In recent years,ications such as Fair Trade practices and organic farming have helped increase awareness about sustainable coffee production methods and contribute to better quality beans overall.
Brewing coffee has been a practice in use for centuries. The first mention of coffee is from an ancient Egyptians document that mentions roasted beans. Coffee was mentioned in Chinese literature in the 5th century BC. The Arabs discovered coffee in the 7th century AD and started to trade with India for it. In 1555, Portuguese sailors found a small island near Brazil that they named Espirito Santo after Saint Francis of Assisi, who was known for his love of roasting beans himself. In 1795, Dutch explorers found a small island off the coast of South America and named it Java because its inhabitants were thought to have originated from Java. Dutch traders brought coffee back to Europe in 1606 and began selling it as early as 1611. By 1619, coffee had spread throughout most of Europe and was being traded by sea route from Indonesia to England, Spain, Turkey, Holland and France.
Moberly, Missouri is a town located in the United States of America. The population was 2,969 at the 2010 census. Moberly is one of the oldest towns in Missouri and was founded on January 24, 1837 by William H. Moberly. It is also one of the most recent towns to be founded in Jackson County. Moberly first appeared on historical maps as a small settlement called "Benton" on December 12, 1836. It was renamed "Moberly" on February 22, 1837 by act of Congress after Colonel John Bate Moberly who had fought for the United States in the Mexican-American War and had been named Commandant of Fort Keogh at Peterboro Creek near St. Louis. The town quickly grew into an important agricultural center due to its location between two major rivers and its fertile soil which produced wheat, corn, soybeans and cotton. The town's first store was built in 1840 and it soon became known for its good quality clothing items such as hats and coats. In 1886, Moberly incorporated as a city with a population of over 10,000 people and began to develop into an important transportation stop for farmers travelling north to Chicago or south to Kansas City or Omaha while also serving as a training ground for local police officers. In 1915 Moberley became home to the world's largest municipally owned oil refinery when it was purchased by American Petroleum Company from J P Morgan & Co.. The refinery continued operations until it closed in 1978 amid controversy over environmental concerns that led to community protests against what were seen as unfair business practices by American Petroleum Company
Moberly was founded in 1836 by a group of farmers who named it for General James Moberly, a hero of the Mexican-American War. The town began as a small community on the banks of the Missouri River, and quickly grew into a major center of trade and commerce. By 1860, Moberly had become one of the most important towns in Kansas Territory. In 1871, Moberly became part of Missouri Territory and was renamed Moberly after General James B. Mooney, commander of Union forces during the battle at Pea Ridge. The town continued to grow until it reached its peak in the early 1920s, when it had over 1,000 residents and was home to several businesses including a flour mill and an agricultural market. However, due to changing economic conditions and reductions in population density during World War II, Moberly declined beginning in the 1940s. It slowly regained its former status as a vibrant community by the late 1980s but has seen little recent growth since then.
