Republic, Mo. is home to the Missouri Air National Guard's 386th Fighter Wing, which provides air support for the state's military and police departments. The wing was activated on Dec. 11, 1941 as a result of World War II. It was redesignated the 386th Fighter Group on Feb. 5, 1945 and equipped with F-4 Phantom fighter bombers. The group became part of Ninth Air Force inactivated on Aug. 9, 1945 and its planes were transferred to the Strategic Air Command (SAC). The United States Air Force reactivated the 386th Fighter Group again at Whiteman AFB in Missouri City on Nov. 1, 1949raptured by SAC's new strategic bomber program called "The Thunderbolts." The group became operational flying Boeing 727-200 jetliners equipped with Republic RF-4C Phantom jets as part of SAC's 334th Bombardment Squadron. In 1951 the group became a component of FIRST Tactical Wing when it was reassigned from Ninth Air Force to First Tactical Wing Headquarters at Randolph AFB Texas after that unit was disbanded along with Third Army following Operation Market Garden in May 1945. In 1957 Republic CF-18 Hornets began arriving from Whiteman AFB and were used as aerial refueling aircraft forThird AF fighters during Operations Desert Storm/Iraq Liberation; these birds continued into operations until 1991 when they were replaced by McDonnell Douglas C-5 Galaxy transports providing aerial cargo transport services out of Clark AB, Nevada using their original markings while still continuing to fly under Republic nameplates until they were decommissioned March 15, 1992 having flown over 83 million pounds worth of freight since activation in 1948
Republic, Missouri, is a small town in the Ozarks of northern Missouri. The population was 511 at the 2010 census. The town is named after George Washington and his first wife, Martha; Washington died before he could name it for her. The town was founded in 1836 by General James K. Polk as a wagon stop on the road from Cairo to Independence. In 1842, Republic became an outpost of the Union army during the Mexican-American War when General Don Carlos Buell ordered its military commander to lead an attack against Confederate forces at Pembina Pass. Despite heavy losses, Republic held its ground and successfully defended itself until withdrawing under the cover of darkness. In 1860, President Abraham Lincoln appointed Jesse Loring Post as the first postmaster general of Missouri because he believed that rural life would be improved by having a local official answer questions about mail deliveries and postage rates to residents near both Cairo and Springfield. After serving two terms, Post resigned due to health problems in 1871 and was replaced by John Moulton Howe Jr., who also served two terms but resigned due to illness in 1875. Howe was succeeded by Julius Caesar Stone before he too resigned due to illness in 1880. That year saw the arrival of Captain Augustus Saint John Hardin as acting postmaster general after Howe’s death; Hardin lasted only one term before being replaced by Wm Hallett Manningham Jr., who served three terms before resigning due to ill health in 1896 In 1903, Republican candidate James A. Garfield won election as president of America thanks largely to his support for Kansas’ admission into the United States as a state despite strong opposition from Republicans throughout most of Missouri After Garfield’s death in 1901, there were several bids for his replacement; but none reached any significant success until 1904 when William McKinley was elected with 99% of the vote over incumbent Vice President Theodore Roosevelt As part of their strategy towards winning reelection against Roosevelt in 1908 (the “1908 Election Season”), McKinley endorsed Woodrow Wilson for president – an endorsement that helped Wilson win re-election although much effort went into preventing fraudulently cast ballots However, following World War I (the war between Russia and Germany), Republican control over Congress decreased significantly which caused many institutional changes within Republic including: abolition of slavery (1898), prohibition of gambling (1907), apportionment of congressional districts based on population size rather than racial lines (1915), establishment of high school district boundaries without regard to race or wealth (1920) and prohibition against liquor sales outside specific towns or villages within those districts (1925). These changes led directly to economic decline within Republic while social stability deteriorated culminating with another Republican victory at elections in 1930 which brought Franklin D. Roosevelt back into office

At that time, Congress authorized President Harry Truman to create a department dedicated to aerial defense. The first USAAF unit was activated on September 3rd, 1947 at Lackland AFB in San Antonio Texas. On December 15th, 1948 Commander-in-Chief General George C Marshall issued Order No. 1 which established four operational commands: Continental Air Command (CAC), Aeronautical Forces Europe (AFFE), Pacific Air Forces (PACAF), and Middle EasternAir Command (MEMCOM). On July 16th, 1951 Headquarters USAF moved from Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton Ohio to Seymour Johnson AFB in Raleigh NC with its primary mission being reconnaissance and fighter training untilactivated on November 17th 1960 when it became Tactical Air Command’s 913st Fighter Wing located at Offutt AFB Nebraska with Republic F-102 Delta Dagger interceptors assigned-. The USAF gift history goes back to the early days of the USAF. In 1938, the Air Corps was formed and assigned to the Department of War as a military auxiliary organization. The Air Corps Gift History begins on December 1, 1941 when President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed Executive Order No. 9405 which created the USAF. On that date, Lieutenant General James Fergusson became Commanding General of the Air Force and ordered all branches of service to contribute aviation gifts for Christmas present to their commanders in chief. In 1947, Congress passed an act authorizing gifts to be given out at Christmastime by officers and enlisted members ofthe USAF who had served in World War II or Korea or had rendered exceptional heroism while serving in any branch of service during those wars or since 1946 as National Veterans Day Honoree. This Act also provided that these gifts could be made in honor only of individuals who had been awarded Distinguished Service Medals or other medals from appropriate governments or organizations abroad which were equivalent in rank to awards earned by United States servicemen and women during World War II or Korea, including contributions from foreign countries which had ratified the International Military Awards Treaty approved by Congress on November 16, 1945. Republic, Missouri was founded in 1821 as a small farming community on the east bank of the Missouri River. The area had been home to Native American tribes for centuries and there were many abandoned villages and settlements throughout the region. In 1819, James K. Polk, then a U.S. Senator from Illinois, visited Republic and saw its potential as a new capital of the United States. He recommended that Congress create a government in Republic to support this recommendation and make it a reality. On February 14, 1821, Congress passed an act establishing Republic as an organized town with Mayor John Blair as its first official leader. The new town quickly grew into one of the most important cities in the Midwest due to its location on the river and its access to trade routes connecting East India Company goods destined for America with Europe. As Republic grew, it became apparent that it needed more than just a single storehouse to house its supplies and citizens began looking for ways to improve their infrastructure. In 1827, Mayor Blair submitted proposals for two different types of libraries – one serving local residents and another open to all interested parties within Republic limits. The first library was built on what is now known as Main Street and served as the town's primary resource center until it burned down in 1865 while being used by students attending nearby Washington University (now University of Missouri). The second library was constructed on Third Street near where Independence Boulevard currently stands and served as Republic's main library until it closed in 1951 following multiple fires which destroyed much of downtown Republic. In addition to improvingRepublic's infrastructure, Mayor Blair also developed plans for developing surrounding areas such as what is now Springfield (then called Huntingdon) into one of the most important commercial districts in Illinois because it would be able to provide easy access to markets outside of Republictown proper. This development led to Springfield becoming one of America's leading metropolises during the early 19th century thanks in part to its strategic location on major riverside trade routes which made it possible for businesses inside or outside of Republictown To thrive without fearof competition from outlying towns or counties within Illinois . The expansionism agenda championed by Mayor Blair also led him into conflict with other officials within Republican Party Headquarters at Fifth Avenue& 59th Street over how bestTo promote party membership among Republicans throughout Missouri . Ultimately this conflict ledto mayor Blair stepping down from his position after only four years in office due primarily To angry reactions from members Of congress who felt he had not done enough To expand Republican Party control across Missouri
