The Marine Corps has deployed gift history to Republic, Mo since The First World War. Marines have been providing service in the Community since 1959. Gift history in Republic, Mo began with a donation of a barrel of oil by Capt. J.W. Herron and Lt. Cmdr. Wernher Kapp in 1959 as part of the Missouri Defense Department's Christmas Appeal Program. In 1961, MajGen James Mize and Colored Troops Unit 1 donated an American flag and two American flagspole pendants for use at the Legionnaires' Hospital in Republic where military patients were treated during the war years on behalf of The United States government and its citizens abroad. It was through these donations that marines first became involved in giving back to their community - through hosting many local events, such as caroling at Legionnaires' Hospital or donating goods from their stores during Armed Forces Day etcetera . In 1969, Sgt.-Maj.(jg.) Darrell Hogue donated a cake stand which is still used today at Marine Barracks - now home to the Marine Corps Museum! In 1978, Lt.-Col.(jg.) John Pritchard gifted four rifles and eight bayonets for use by Marine Battalions within The Missouri Defense Department as part of unit markings recognition program (then still called "battlefield marksmanship"). Also that year, another barrel of oil was donated by Capt Charles Kocherman along with an American flagpole pendant for use at Veterans Affairs Medical Center near Saint Louis MO also made possible thru donations from our troops overseas! It wasn’t until 1990 when Maj.-Gen./Lt.-Col.(jg.) Don Armstrong bestowed upon us another barrel of oil as a gesture of appreciation for all we do within our community! This time it was accompanied by an American Flag Pole Pendant which hangs presently outside our main building adjacent to the museum - symbolizing continued support from Marines across THE STATE OF MISSOURI! Today there are more than 650 Marines stationed here- serving not only Our country but OUR COMMUNITY too! From countless hours spent giving back both physically & emotionally through various activities throughout this great state...we can say without question that marine gift history is truly alive & well here in Republic, Mo!!!

Republic, Missouri is a town in St. Francois County, Missouri, United States. The population was 2,914 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Rolla Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Republic was Hiram Hoberman in 1839. In 1855, John Aiken bought land from James Waddell and founded the Gentry Manufacturing Company with his brothers-in-law Amos Davenport and Alfred Boren. The firm produced rifles and shotguns for the Union army during the American Civil War. Aiken also built a sawmill on the River Raisin in 1866 and became one of Rolla's largest landowners until his death in 1893. In 1890, Edward Crain purchased land east of town from Aiken's grandson John Aiken Jr., established Crain & Sons Brewery, and changed its name to Republic Brewing Company Ltd.. Republic grew rapidly during World War I; production reached 100 barrels per day by 1922. After Prohibition ended in 1933, beer sales dwindled but remain significant today due to their location adjacent to Interstate 66 (the "Path of Tears"). In 1960, Republic merged with neighboring towns Rolla and Blue Springs to form the city of Rolla; however, beer sales continued as independent businesses until 1984 when they were merged into Republic under new management once again becoming an important economic activity withinRolla community coffers ever since. In recent years several small businesses have closed or been forced out by larger companies moving into rollaMarketplace Shopping Center which has greatly diminished their customer base making it difficult for them to compete against larger merchants like Walmart which now dominate commerce withinRolla Mall area

Here is a partial list of some marine Deployment Gift History: 1) The MRE ( Meal Ready-to-Eat) Camels: These camels were given as a gift to Marines when they first deployed overseas. They were usually provided with unleaded gasoline, water, and crackers in order to make the trip more bearable for the camels. After returning from their deployment, these camels often found new families in their home base and were loved by all who interacted with them. 2) A Sniper Rifle: This sniper rifle was given as a gift once someone had served tours in Iraq or Afghanistan. It was usually a high end rifle that had been modified to shoot through barriers or obstacles like tanks or buildings. Many people think this sniper rifle is really cool because it was used by snipers on both sides of the conflict and caused great devastation during those wars. 3) A Customized Helmet: This helmet was custom made just for one Marine Corps unit and was really unique in its design. The Marine typically received this helmet after completing an entire tour of duty with that unit. The helmet represented everything that the Marine believed in while he/she served in uniform- bravery, discipline, strength etcetera

The Republic, Missouri history begins with the signing of the United States Constitution on July 4, 1787. The town of Independence was chosen as the site for the new nation because it had been a part of the Shawnee Indian Nation and was considered a war zone during the American Revolutionary War. On November 3, 1804, Congress approved The Organic Act of 1804 which created The Territory of Kansas and Nebraska. On December 12, 1812, President James K. Polk signed an executive order creating Republic in present-day Missouri. It became an unincorporated community within Kansas Territory. Republic was named after George Washington’s home state of Virginia. The first store in Republic was opened by Wm Hays on September 11, 1834. By 1840, there were three stores and twenty-six residents in Republic. A post office was established at Republic on October 6, 1840; it remained in operation until May 5, 1865 when it was changed to Topeka. In 1861, two-thirds of all US slaves were living in slavery in Missouri; however this number decreased over time due to emancipation events such as the Emancipation Proclamation and Reconstruction policies enacted by Abraham Lincoln following his election as president in 1860. In 1865, Confederate General Robert E Lee surrendered at Appomattox Court House leaving all Union soldiers behind including 1/5th Missouri Infantry Regiment under Col John Sibley who fought valiantly during that battle with no loss but capture or death certificates listing him as “Missing” from Battlefield Cemetery near Richmond National Cemetery where he is buried today along side other Union Soldiers from 1/5th MO Inf Reg .

The state of Missouri became a republic in 1827. In 1861, it seceded from the United States and formed its own Confederate state. In 1865, it rejoined the United States and became an ally of Abraham Lincoln's America during the American Civil War. The city of Springfield fell to Union forces in 1865, but Republic continued to exist as a separate city until 1870.
