The Nebraska National Guard is a 1st generation, direct descendant of the original national guard unit in Nebraska. The unit was organized on September 15, 1861 and served as part of the Union army during the American Civil War. On January 3, 1865, the 2nd Nebraska National Guard detachment arrived in Beatrice to help protect the town during the Lincoln conflict. From then until 1912, when it was disbanded due to budget cuts, there were always at least three Nepalese nationals on duty with the Nebraska National Guard. The current 1st generation (1st Nevada) Nepalese nationals serving with the Nebraska National Guard are: Master Sergeant Raman Singh Dhawan (age 36), Lance Corporal Niraj Kumar Jha (age 21), Private First Class Monu Monga (age 18). There have been several other Nepalese nationals who have served in various capacities with the Nebraska National Guard but their names are not mentioned herein because they have not reached age 36 years old and therefore no further information can be provided about them. With all of these active Nepalesenationals serving our state and country we want to do something special for them this Christmas season! The National Guard is a national force that can be mobilized to provide support in times of need. The Guard has various branches and specialties, such as the Army National Guard and Air National Guard. Each state has its own National Guard branch. The Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States (MOLLUS) was founded in 1847 by American Revolutionary War veterans, including George Washington and James K. Polk. The organization provides military funeral services for U.S. Presidents and other high-ranking members of the government. In 1916, the armed forces were amalgamated into one Unified Service Command, which included all military units within each state except for the National Guard. This gave rise to the term "National Guardsman." In 1968, when combat troops were withdrawn from Vietnam after more than two years of deployment, the Army Reserve called up all active duty soldiers who had not completed their service obligation in order to form an added 1 million man reserve army known as "theHomeless Pentagon Battalion." As part of this effort to attract new recruits, Department of Defense programs offered enlistments bonuses or promotion opportunities for those who joined up during peacetime; these recruiters typically referred to themselves as "National Guardsmen," even though they were not actually a part of any branch of the Military Forces at war with another country at that time. Today's militia organizations are often smaller than their Revolutionary War counterparts but still have a strong presence throughout America due in part to laws mandating certain types and levels of emergency response during natural disasters or other emergencies such as riots or terrorist threats; many militias also engage in hunting and Dove hunting seasonally while others offer agricultural services such as crop inspection or animal husbandry on large ranches outside urban areas where traditional militia activities are not possible or desired due to zoning restrictions or financial concerns about participation in paramilitary activity outside urban areas
The Nebraska National Guard Museum in Beatrice, Nebraska has a history dating back to 1917. The museum was started by members of the Nebraska Legislature as a way to help keep the state’s military forces organized and funded. In 1951, the National Guard Armory was built on State Street in Beatrice. The armory is now home to the Nebraska Division of Defense History and Heritage. In 1971, General Creighton Abrams became Commanding General of the Nebraska National Guard. He dedicated the new Omaha Army Ammunition Plant in Beatrice as part of his efforts to improve military supplies for soldiers throughout the Midwest. After his retirement from command in 1992, General Abrams worked with then-President George H.W. Bush at Camp David to create strategies for post-9/11 defense needs in America. In 2003, General Abrams was inducted into the Nebraska Hall of Fame.
