The United States Coast Guard was first created on August 29, 1796 as the U.S. Navy's First Marine Regiment and over timeve been variously called the U.S. Marines, Coast Guard, and simply “Coast Guard”. The Coast Guard currently has over 30,000 men and women who serve in both ashore patrol units that look out for ships in port and offshore search and rescue missions when needed; as well as a number of coastal patrol vessels including Cutters North (CG-7), Cutter South (CG-5), Grumman Gulfstream GV-3A(L) , Mackinac Island Lighthouse Museum vessel CG-2/CG-4W(N), USCGC Polar Pioneer (PCG-127) and numerous auxiliary boats including CG cutter Stonington Harbor Patrol Boat (CHPB) which is permanently staffed with six officers & 36 enlisted residents providing law enforcement service along Nevada's ocean coastline

The Mesquite Coast Guard station was established in 1923. The first coast guard officer at the station was Captain John Fenton. In 1951, Captain Harry A. McGee became the first Chief of Patrol and Commander of the Auxiliary Patrol Force. In 1957, Master Sergeant Arthur Wojciechowski became the first Petty Officer First Class to be assigned to the Coast Guard Station. On July 1, 1976, Assistant Chief Vernon J. Ferraro assumed command of the Coast Guard Station from Master Sergeant Arthur Wojciechowski. On October 3, 1978, Assistant Chief Vernon J. Ferraro was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and assumed command of the Coast Guard Station permanently. On November 18, 1988 Master Sergeant Michael Pappas became permanent Chief Petty Officer First Class and AssistantChief Gerald Ritchie assumed command of the Auxiliary Patrol Force after Senior Member Michael Pappas retired from active duty with The United States Navy due to health reasons. In 2000-2001 Rear Admiral Forrest Loescher served as Commanding Officer (CO) for a three-month period while there were no Acting COs because Vice Admiral Robert Haggerty had taken over as Commanding Officer for UPNL during that time frame
Mesquite is a city in Pershing County, Nevada. The population was 10,827 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat for Pershing County. Mesquite is located on State Route 89 and Interstate 825 just east of Reno, Nevada. The city of Mesquite was founded by Mormons in 1859 as an agricultural center to support their new religion. The town became a booming mining town during the 1860s with gold discoveries in nearby Grindingstone and Spanish Fork valleys. In 1871, Mormon settlers purchased more than 2,000 acres (100 hectares) of land north of Mesquite from Apaches and moved into what would become the town of Mesquite. Mesquite experienced its first tornado on July 3rd 1897 when a severe F4 tornado touched down near Elmira Street and State Route 189 about 6 miles (10 kilometers) northwest of the present-day city limits. That same year also saw its first murder when James Coyle shot and killed two men while they were working on his farm south of town. In 1901, mesquite was named one of 20 American cities honored with an award from the International Committee on Monuments in Memory of the World's Armenians (ICMMW). In 1923, mesquite began to grow rapidly due to its location at a crossroads between Salt Lake City and Reno which led to extensive development along both streetscape fronts including many hotels and other businesses that could be found nowhere else in Nevada at that time. Many people believe that this growth was due directly to Harry S Truman’s presidential announcement on December 16th1946 which announced plans for Interstate 80 through Nevada; however it wasn’t until after much groundwork had been done by local developers that such impressive structures as the Grand Palace Hotel opened up along I-80 in downtown Mesa Verde just outside today’s city limits – making mesquite one of America’s most vibrant metropolises during those decades! It wasn’t until 1978 when organized crime elements took over some aspects of local business operations within mesquito country that things really started going off script for our friendly hometown! But even then there have always been characters who have managed to stay afloat no matter how bad things get! Today we continue our proud tradition as a thriving community where everyone has their own voice - whether it be music or business or simply having fun! With so much growth happening around us each day it can sometimes be hard to keep up but we truly believe that anything is possible if you set your mind To It!!!
The Coast Guard has been a part of American society for over 250 years. The first Coast Guard ship was launched on December 14, 1847, and the first cutter was built in 1851. The Coast Guard played an important role in the American Revolution and during World War II. In 1919, the Coast Guard Reserve was created and it became the full-time Coast Guard in 1951. Today, the Coast Guard plays an important role both at home and abroad with its mission to protect our nation’s waters and coastline. In 1932, Congress passed the Merchant Marine Act which established regulations governing commercial shipping. This act led to the development of the modern coast guard fleet including ships like USCG Cutter Cutters (1948), CG(L) P-3 Orion (1992), HH-60 Black Hawk helicopters (1997), LGC Sierra Leone (2002), PCS Griffin (2007), USCGC Guardian Howland (2011) and ABCsupply replenishment tanker USS Constitution (2013). Additionally, smaller vessels like LCDR John Sowers personnel vessel were used to support larger vessels during periods of extended deployment such as Operation Neptune’s Spear from 2009 through 2013 when large fleets of merchant sailors were needed off America’s east coast due to Hurricane Sandy. Mesquite is a small town in Clark County, Nevada. It was founded in 1879 by Mormons who had come to the area from Utah. The Mormon Church vacated Mesquite in 1938, and it was taken over by the United States Air Force as an airbase during World War II. Mesquite was abandoned again after the war, but it regained its importance as a commercial center with heavy industry beginning in the early 21st century. In 1951, Mesquite became the site of what has been called "the first national open-air movie theater."
