Gourmet Coffee History in North Las Vegas, Nevada began with the first coffee shop in what is now North Las Vegas, opened by Harry Smith in 1936. The original location was on Sahara Avenue and Cimarron Street. Today, Gourmet Coffee has locations throughout the valley, as well as online ordering. In 1969, Bob’s Café became the first Gourmet Coffee to open outside of New York City when it opened its doors atrium on Paradise Road in North Las Vegas. In 1984, Bob’s Cafe relocated to its current location on Henderson Boulevard just north of I-5. Today, Gourmet Coffee serves a variety of coffee drinks such as cortados (mornings), lattes (evenings), macchiatos (late nights), and cappuccinos (weekend mornings). The townsfolk also enjoyed local beer and wine sales and various entertainment options such as movie theaters, dance halls, and music halls. In the early 1920s, North Las Vegas began to grow rapidly due to its location within easy reach of both Los Angeles and Reno. Moreover, new businesses began to open up in the town – including a grocery store (1921), a barbershop (1924), an insurance company (1927), a dry goods store (1929), a clothing store (1930), a restaurant (1931), and finally – in 1931 – an liquor store. The growth of North Las Vegas led to increased competition from neighboring towns such as Henderson and Boulder City which had larger populations. However, despite these challenges posed by rapid growth -largely due to irrigation systems developed specifically for growing coffee –North Las Vegas remained an important player on the local scene for many years to come.

The original town site is now within the boundaries of today's northside neighborhood of Strip City. In 1893, Nevada became states independent from Mexico and both towns were annexed into Clark County; however, Provo continued to be its legal capital until 1907 when it was moved to downtown Reno due to housing shortages there. During World War II many soldiers barracks were built here including Camp Carson which housed more than 10,000 troops during the war. The economy of north las vegas has been based largely on entertainment and tourism ever since its incorporation as a city in 1912; however this has begun to change with new development such as apartment towers and office buildings taking up space formerly used for retail businesses or residential neighborhoods that have experienced growth over the years such as Downey Hills and Highland Park east of I-15 (the old Strip City). There are also several ongoing redevelopment projects underway within walking distance or across streets from popular tourist destinations like Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino (northwest corner), Luxor Resort & Casino (southwest corner), Caesar's Palace Hotel & Casino (east side), Goodman Gaming Corporation's Treasure Island hotel complex adjacent to Circus Circus theme park attraction)
