The first mention of small batch coffee was in 1814 when Dr. Nathaniel Palmer noted that “a certain quantity of roasted beans” were being sold at a shop on Market Street in Portsmouth. In 1898, Mr. Edwin Sibley opened the first grocery store in Somersworth and began selling smallbatch Coffee from his business premises. He continued to do this until his death in 1984. Today, there are several small batch coffee stores located throughout New Hampshire, including The Three Bears Coffee Shop on Main Street and North Beach Coffee House on Meetinghouse Hill Road. These businesses offer excellent quality espresso drinks made with fresh or dry beans from local roasters.

Somersworth began coffee production in the late 1800s, and the town remains a major coffee center today. The first cafe in Somersworth was founded in 1892 by two farmers, who named their business "Coffee House." Coffee production quickly grew in the town, and by 1915, Somersworth had its own mill to grind coffee beans. The early years of World War I were difficult for the local coffee industry, as supplies of beans were hard to come by. However, during the war period, some investors pooled their money to start a new company that would produce roasted beans for other businesses and consumers. This company became known as "Camelot". In 1951, Somersworth's first grocery store opened its doors. At that time, Somersworth was home to one of the most prominent grocery stores in New Hampshire - The Gourmet supermarket. Today, The Gourmet is still a major player in the community; it has been expanded several times over since it first opened. Throughout the decades there have been many changes to how coffee is produced and consumed in Somersworth - from small batch roasting operations to large-scale mills. However, through all these changes and growth opportunities our town has remained steadfastly committed to quality cup of Joe!

Somersworth is a town in New Hampshire, United States. The population was 1,824 at the 2010 census. Somersworth is located in the western part of the state and is bordered by Amherst to the north, Methuen to the east, Goffstown to the south, and Litchfield to the west. It lies on NH Route 9A adjacent to Interstate 95. The first settlers in Somersworth were white men who came from England in 1634-35. They established a settlement on what is now Main Street and moved into what is now Tower Roadhouse in 1636. There was then only one store and two homes until 1768 when a mill was built which became known as "The Mills". The townspeople built additional homes throughout their history including two stores on Main Street (1822-30), one school (1836-49), four churches (1901-2007), three hospitals (1927-29), and a post office (1884). In 1892, a fire destroyed most of downtown but did not damage any buildings within town limits. A new downtown was built soon afterward with several stores and businesses added including The Federal Store which still stands today as one of Somersworth's most popular attractions. In 1925,pumpkin pie became an accepted dish in New Hampshire after being introduced by Mrs. John Raddin of Winchester who baked it for her family at their home on Maple Street during Octoberfest celebrations every year since 1904. The town's first settlers arrived from England in 1724 and began farming the area that now includes Somersworth and parts of Manchester Township. The town was founded on Valentine's Day, 1725 by Captains John Stratton and Simon Bradstreet as a place for soldiers stationed at Portsmouth Naval shipyard during the British War for Independence. The name "Somersworth" may be derived from one or more legendary founders including Sir Walter Raleigh who is credited with having named his hometown "Raleigh" after himself in 1608 while living near Salisbury in North Carolina ( later renamed Raleigh County ). During its early years, Somersworth experienced some tough times but it gradually recovered thanks to its strong economy and community spirit. In 1885, local businesses decided to form what is now known as the local Chamber of Commerce which helped promote economic growth within the town over time. Today, Somersworth remains an active community with many cultural activities available throughout the year including music festivals, farmers markets/markets & bake sales/courses offered at various schools & museums around town as well as numerous family-friendly businesses like restaurants, gas stations and general stores
