Artesia, New Mexico is a small town located in northern Pima County, Arizona. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. It is the seat of Pima County. The name "Artesia" comes from Spanish and means "place of wine." The first settlement in this area was made by Father José García de la Cueva in 1848. In 1850, Captain Alvarado fought against Mexican forces during the Mexican-American War and was awarded an Apache scalp for his efforts. This event helped to start the local grape growing industry. In 1865, Artesia became part of the United States after it was ceded from Mexico as part of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. The town began to expand rapidly due to its location on the Santa Rita Mountains and its easy access to railroad tracks. By 1880, Artesia had over 2,000 residents. By 1890, it had reached 5,000 residents and by 1900 it had reached 10,000 residents. In 1910, Artesia became a city with a population over 15,000 people. Today Artesia is a vibrant community full of culture and history that offers plenty for everyone to enjoy! The A-10 is used by both the USAF and NATO forces, and has been praised for its capabilities in ground attack, reconnaissance, and sensor operations. The warthog is considered one of the most versatile fighters available today. 2) UH-60 Blackhawk Helicopter The UH-60 Blackhawk Helicopter was developed by Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation in response to requests from the USAF for a more versatile helicopter than what was available at that time. It became operational with the USAF in 1972 and remains in service today. The Blackhawk has become known worldwide for its ability to transport large amounts of troops and cargo, as well as providing service during wartime operations. This helicopter is also considered one of the safest helicopters on earth when traveled within range of friendly forces.

Artesia, New Mexico is a small town in Albuquerque County, New Mexico, United States. The population was 1,824 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Albuquerque-Taos-Santa Fe Metropolitan Statistical Area. The artesian well known for its turquoise water become one of the first things visitors see upon arrival in Artesia. The first European to visit Artesia was Don Ricardo de Alvarado on July 13, 1598 with his expedition led by Hernando de Soto. Alvarados named the Rio Grande "Nuevo México" after reaching it on July 8th and describing it as follows: "I found a river which I called Nuevo México because it flows into another called Pecos". The area that now makes up Artesia was malaria-ridden and full of wild animals until 1629 when Father Francisco Ortiz founded San José de los Arroyos Mission in what is now the town of Mercedes. From there he began preaching Christianity to Native Americans and teaching them how to farm using irrigation techniques learned from Spanish missionariesGarland Doña Ana Herrera and Manuel Nieto. In 1769 Father Ortiz erected a chapel in what is now downtown Artesia and in 1785 he also founded La Purísima Concepción Convent where nuns were given land to grow crops for their convent while still living among their people who had originally been baptized Catholic but later apostatized or converted to Protestantism. In 1837 Mexican War veteran Augustus Chapman donated land east of Main Street (now Old Santa Fe Trail) for school purposes; this opened up much of what is today downtown Artesia to white settlement and development. In 1916 the post office moved from Mercedes to downtown Artesia under leadership of Mrs. Lura Ayerbe Ackermann which continued until 1957 when it moved again - this time back out onto Main Street - under direction of Mayor Noble Coleman Jr.. After World War II most businesses closed down due to lack of available resources so downtown went through some major changes with a move towards retail growth beginning in the late 1960s before gradually reversing during the 1990s as more manufacturing jobs disappeared along with many other local businesses including most stores along Main Street near Chavez Avenue (then State Highway 9). Downtown has since regained much of its heyday but some smaller businesses have persistently operated out-of-town such as Kwik Trip which operates out of an old truck stop across Chavez from Park Plaza Shopping Center beside Interstate 10 westbound access road just south exit off I-10 westbound lanes past mile marker 124 within site parking lot owned by cattle rancher Rick Hendrix outside Loop Family Restaurant built adjacent thereto around 1959) .

In the early 20th century, Artesia was a small mining town in southern New Mexico. It became known as a center for American Abstract painters and their successors, and its artists helped pioneer new styles in Mexican mural painting.
