By 1845, Castro had married Juana Vasquez and their families moved to what is now First Street across from Second Avenue where they bought some land from José de la Torre y Escobar for $1 per acre (0·50 km²). Thevasques farmed this land until about 1865 when they sold it to Francisco García for $5 per acre (1·10 km²). They then began construction of their home on current Fourth Street which they named Villa Espiritu Santo after St Francis Xavier who had died nearby that year.
