The history of gourmet coffee in Portales, New Mexico begins with the first Dutch settlers who arrived in the area in the 17th century. The Dutch were farmers and their coffee beans were ground for use as a morning fuel source. Coffee was also sold to local ranchers and traders for their morning caffeine fix. As word spread about this unique product, more and more people began traveling to Portales to enjoy this delicious brew. In the 1860s, Antonio de la Hoz leased land within present-day Portales from the Pueblo of Zuni. Here he began cultivating coffee beans on his property. By 1871, de la Hoz had built a large plantation that yielded an excellent cup of java. His successors continued to produce high-quality beans until 1962 when it was purchased by Carlos Romero Jr., one of New Mexico's most successful businessmen. Today, Gourmets Coffee is one of the largest roasters in Albuquerque and portions of NM/. It has been located at 1280 First Street since 1984, making it one of oldest commercial roasters in town!

Portales, New Mexico is a town located in the Mexican state of Chihuahua. The population was 5,653 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Ciudad Juarez metropolitan area. The first European to arrive in Portales was José de Avila y Escobar on November 15, 1619 during his exploring expedition along what is now the southern border of Chihuahua. He named it "Potosí" after an Indian chief he had encountered on his journey. In 1846, United States forces under General Zachary Taylor invaded Chihuahua and destroyed most of Mexicali including Portales; however, some men from this town managed to escape and establish themselves in Durango where they founded a rancho (ranch). In 1868, another American force led by Colonel James Waco invaded Chihuahuanas and burned down most of Mexicali but spared Portales which may have been why its name changed to "Portales" about that time. In 1912, the Mexican government renamed all municipalities in Mexico except for Ciudad Juarez with new names reflecting their historical importance such as Puebla (1889), Tecalitlan (1912), Guadalajara (1914), Monterrey (1920) and Tijuana (1926). The municipal seat of Portale continued to be called Ciudad Juarez until 1944 when it became part of El Paso County which merged into Texas in 1938. This change also affected other towns within Chihuahuanas Municipality such as Tuxtla Gutiérrez (1900), Chinandega(1902) and San Marcos(1910). All these towns were given different names reflecting their pre-existing historical importance or geographical features: Puebla-Tecalitlan-Guadalajara-Monterrey-Tijuana etc. During World War II many people from Ciudad Juárez left for work inportations like Agriculture or munitions production on various ships brought over by United States Navy sailors who dubbed these ports "El Paso" for fear that Nazi Germany would move them back into German hands should war break out again between the allies and Axis powers. Consequently many businesses were established here like Anglo American Paper Mills shipyard built adjacent to what is now known as Bluefields Park Shopping Center while others such as Zapata Arms Manufacturing Company struggled valiantly through wartime years with few if any benefits enjoyed by their owners post-war years despite having vast reserves of flour stored away until times current[1]. Families who had lived here since before prohibition days started coming back home during prohibition's end although they could not vote because they did not have driver's licenses nor could they own property since Mexicans were not allowed to own land without previously owning some livestock or working on it for a minimum period Of 10 years prior to becoming a citizen so you can get your deed registered & Own land [2], Although there are still some residents who opt not to return home during prohibition days preferring instead residing elsewhere outside of México due Asbury Park NJ USA., nonetheless this paper will focus mainly upon those living permanently inside Méxica today especially considering that more than half century has passed since Prohibition ended completely;;; Though originally Spanish speaking majority community, Englishspeaking minority began arriving starting around 1920s & continues present day thru mail order/internet services from UKUSA

Portales, New Mexico is a town located in the Mexican state of Puebla. The population was 5,059 as of 2010 and lies on the banks of the Rio Grande. The first Europeans to visit Portales were Spanish explorers who set out from Mexico City in 1519 on a journey that would eventually lead them to Veracruz. They named their new destination "Punta de las Flores" (Point of Flowers), after a nearby flower garden. The town's first settlers arrived in 1821, when they came overland from Santa Fe by way of Chihuahua and Sonora. At that time, Portales was one of only a few villages in what is now Puebla County. The others were Cuernavaca, Doña Ana, Ahueva and Taos. In 1823, General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna ordered all Indian soldiers withdrawn from New Mexico; as part of this order, many residents abandoned their homes and took up residence in Mexicali. For the next several years,Portales functioned primarily as an agricultural center with smallpox epidemics regularly taking toll of its citizens. In 1827-29 José María Morelos led an uprising against Mexican rule which resulted in his execution at the hands of government forces. As a result, much political instability followed throughout Guerrero Province until1831 when Lt.-Governor Manuel Micheltoreno granted independence to New Mexico under the name Republic of Texas with Portales serving as its capital city (the seat also served as interim capital between 1832 and 1840). A year later Commodore John Coody took possessionofNewMexico Territory following his victory over Tecumseh at Monterrey Bay on July 26th 1846- thus ending more than 350 years of Spanish colonial rule over parts of present day Puebla and San Luis Potosí states—making New Mexicans for the first time free men subject to Ulysses S Grant’s America!
