Rio Rancho, New Mexico is a town in Grant County, Colorado, United States. The population was 9,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Denver–Aurora metropolitan area. The first coffee beans were grown in Rio Rancho in 1887 by Antonio Lopez and his partners Manuel and Maria Martinez. In 1893, Lorenzo Cervantes began importing coffee from Brazil for local consumption. In 1912, Don José Alberto Moreno purchased a small parcel of land adjacent to the town lot where he started to cultivate coffee beans. By 1916, Moreno had built a large plantation on what is now Main Street in Rio Rancho with an acreage of . Today's Moreno Coffee Company has been manufacturing fine-quality coffee for over 100 years. In 1923 Goya Coffee Company opened its doors in Rio Rancho with three roasters: José Gomez (founder), Pedro Ramos and Abelardo Pacheco (who would later become Caribbean Coffee). Over time other companies joined Goya including King's Coffee Roasters Inc., Brown & Williamson Co., Royal Dutch Shell plc., Boca Raton Coffee Co., Columbian Coffee Roasters and many more!Today there are more than seventy-five independent roasters supplying the greater Denver area with some of the world’s best cup of Joe!

Gourmet coffee has been around since before Rio Rancho was founded. Coffee beans were first roasted in San Sebastian, Spain in the 17th century and continue to be roasted here today. In 1876, the first shop in Rio Rancho opened its doors. The store sold coffee, small cigars, and other items. The store continued to be open until 1963 when it closed due to the recession. In 1969, a new grocery store called Piggly Wiggly opened its doors in Rio Rancho. This grocery store became one of the most popular in town and served as the foundation for much of what is now known about Gourmet Coffee. In 1973, Bob's Java opened its doors in Rio Rancho. This restaurant became one of the most popular tourist spots in town and continues to serve up delicious Gourmet Coffee every day!
Rio Rancho is a small town in New Mexico, located about 25 miles southeast of Albuquerque. The population was 1,521 at the 2000 census. The Rio Rancho area has been inhabited by Native Americans for more than 10,000 years. The first European to visit the area was José de León on May 5, 1785. He founded the Village of San Miguel de Allende on the east bank of the Rio Grande near today's Roswell and founded what would become known as Albuquerque on December 6, 1824. In 1846, Jefe Manuel Micheltorena sold land in what is now Rio Rancho to Antonio Cámpora and Francisco Palacio for $2 million. At that time it was one of 83 United States counties established by Act of Congress following Mexican independence from Spain. In 1861, during American Civil War, General John Pemberton ordered Ulysses S Grant to relieve Santa Fe from Confederate siege and take it under military occupation; this included Mogollon country in present-day New Mexico west of the Anadarko Plateau. When Republicans took over control of America in 1865 after the end of the war, they abolished all federal government south of Missouri River except for Arizona Territory which had remained under Union rule since 1864 because slavery continued there until its abolition in 1912. On November 16th 1865 Proclamation No.-1 (4to 33) by President Abraham Lincoln authorized purchase from Palacio and Cámpora by New Mexican Land Company for $10 million—the largest ever private donation to U.S., without formal donation or congressional appropriation required—of fertile ranchland lying between Plata Grande Mountains to the north and Catron Mountains to our south extending into Colorado County along both sides of said Río Grande Valley forming modern day Rio Rancho County including City limits thereof forevermore! On January 3rd 1870 A bill became law authorizing creation within said county line (now part of East Texas), adjacent thereto lying eastwardly thereto called Deming Cutoff or Dog Gapknown then as Deming Township’s Canyon Rim Road lying due eastward thence through Clear Creek canyon rim road & down Clear Creek valley thence generally northwestwardly & finally entering upon Indian Territory where lands now include will be surveyed but no title granted thereby until act may be passed providing same conditions precedent thereto As allowed hereinbefore! parcels hereinafter located being originally patented subject only to surveys & rights so long as no titles are granted hereinunto till act may be passed providing same conditions precedent thereto!...(New Mexico statehood being celebrated 20 years later) By popular vote held at Raton’s Hotel DecEMBER 22d 1895 an Act creating a new borough within said county aforesaid Beholding 8809 square miles comprehending all that lies between Deming Cutoff point or Dog Gap aforesaid running due easterly along deming creek side thereof northerly along clear creek side thereof westerly along rioGrandeValley shoreline thence generally northwestwardly into Indian Territory were approval given ensuing Map showing lots purchased thereunder together with surveyor’s plat sheets accompanying This paper giving full particulars
