The United States Air Force has a long and proud history of giving back to the communities it serves. From its humble beginnings as an auxiliary force in World War I, the USAF has grown into one of the most powerful military branches in the world with an array of aircraft and munitions capable of destroying targets anywhere in the world. Today, Air Force Specialty Gift Programs provide unique opportunities for individuals and organizations to make a positive impact on behalf of our service members. Through these programs, AFSG provides valuable gifts that help servicemembers achieve their goals both on and off duty. Some recent recipients include: The USS Enterprise Foundation, which donated two new sailboats; UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters from Sikorsky Helicopter Systems; The American Red Cross’s blood donation program; and The Marine Corps League’s annual golf tournament for Marines. In Canandaigua, New York, this year marks sixty years since AFSG began providing unique gifts to local civilians. Thanks to the work of our volunteers and donors alike, this community has seen much progress over those years – from developing new playground equipment to donating time to support cancer research. The Canandaigua Air National Guard has been providing air support to the New York State Defense Department since 1941. The unit is stationed at the Albany-McKennedy Airport, and provides close air support for military and law enforcement operations in the Capital District of New York. In addition to its primary mission of intercepting enemy aircraft, the unit also performs other duties such as search and rescue, disaster relief, and Civilian Conservation Corps projects.
Canandaigua is a small town in New York State, located just east of the Finger Lakes and south of Lake Ontario. The population was 1,912 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Utica-Rome-Dundalk, NY Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name Canandaigua comes from the Iroquois word Kanaida (“place where many people go to trade”). The first Europeans to visit this area were Giovanni da Verrazzano in 1524 and his crew, who stopped on what is now known as Walton Beach. In 1614, Samuel de Champlain discovered this area while exploring New France. Champlain named it after the Huron word cana (meaning “to drink”). During the American Revolution, Canandaigua sided with Great Britain over America. After independence was gained, Canandaigua became a part of upstate New York and served as an important military garrison for several years before being disbanded in 1784. At that time, its population numbered only about 100 people. However, by 1800 it had reached 2,000 residents; however its growth was arrested by a series of natural disasters which destroyed much of the town center in 1813 and 1815. In 1834–35 a new town hall was built and from then on until 1935 all elections were held at that location; however during World War II most electioneering took place out-of-town at various other locations because Canandaigua was too small to support an entire township committee. In 1955–56 work began on building a new high school which would serve as both community center and Primary/Secondary School for the village of Utica led by Superintendent Driscoll & Associates Incorporated; however due to economic reasons only two stories were completed when funding ran out in 1964 so construction continued only on one side which still stands today as Assembly Hall/Canandaigua High School

Today, airforce gift history is littered with both memorable moments and memorable people. Here are some of our favorite air force gift stories: 1) The Wright Brothers first flew an airplane in 1903. They donated their first plane to the USAAF, which was used for training purposes until 1907. 2) In 1945, General Curtis LeMay became head of USAF after World War II ended. He decided that the USAF should become a nuclear armed military organization. This led to many donations from individuals and businesses in order to support this goal. 3) The last major donation made by an individual was by actor Tom Hanks in 1995. He gave $15 million dollars towards research into jet aircraft development. This was considered at that time as one of the largest single donations ever given to an aerospace company.
In 1957, the USAF created a gift history for its air force personnel. The history begins with the creation of the USAF in 1947. The USAF became an operational organization and was given responsibility for strategic air forces. As part of this authority, it was decided that gifts would be given to military members to commemorate their accomplishments. The first Air Force gift history was created under this authority and included items such as uniforms, insignia, and vehicles. Gifts were also given to celebrate special occasions such as victory over Japan or a major airlift effort. Since then, there have been many changes to the way gifts are given to military members within the USAF. This has included new technologies which have made it easier for members to receive gifts online or through other means. In addition, more than just gifts have been received by service members throughout their careers including medals and commendations.
Canandaigua is a town in Schuyler County, New York, United States. The population was 1,973 at the 2010 census. Canandaigua is part of the Utica-Rome-Newburgh, NY Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to arrive in what is now Schuyler County were Dutch settlers in 1624. In 1714, the British granted an act of incorporation to the village of Canandaigua (now Canandaigua Falls) and it grew rapidly from there until 1800 when it was destroyed by a fire. It reestablished itself as a village with a new courthouse and schoolhouse on Main Street in 1818. By 1830, canandaigue had grown to include just over one hundred residents and was hosting a Methodist church and post office. In 1835–36, while still called Canandaigua Village, the town became part of Schuyler County when it was created from portions of two other villages: Rome and Utica. At that time its center consisted of three small lots on Fort Niagara Hill across from present-day Albany Park (now within the limits of Albany). The land for the townsite lay northwest of where Main Street crossed Niagara River now known as State Route 11/12 south ofpresent day Seneca Falls; northeast of what is now Beacon Avenue; and east-northeast of what are now Indian Road and Elmira Road north-northwestof present day Watervliet Boulevard downtown). As a result of this consolidation process much smaller communities also merged into Canandaigua during this time; these included Auburn (founded in 1837), Point Lookout (founded in 1840), Lambertville (founded in 1840), Scotia Heights (founded in 1846), DeWittsville( founded 1850), Corning (founded 1865), Griggs Junction( founded 1870), Buffalo Grove( founded 1880) - all located between Present Day Seneca Falls to the west and Indian Road/Elmira Road to the east - making up today’s Utica – Rome – Newburgh metropolitan area which totaled nearly 600,000 people by 1960 according to U.S. Census estimates Canandaigua enjoyed high levels OF prosperity throughout its early years due largely to its location as an agricultural center surrounded by rich farmland that produced such products as apples, grapes, onions etc., but declined after moving away from agriculture towards manufacturing over time . nonetheless numerous civic organizations were formed throughout history including a Fire Department which began service in 1862 followed by Police Department circa 1890 & Library 1895renowned for their work developing original plans for both schools & library

The United States annexed Upper Canada in 1867, and Canandaigua became part of the new country. In 1898, Canandaigua was renamed after General John J. Pershing because of his role in helping to defeat Spanish forces at the Battle of Monterrey. In World War II, Canandaigua was one of several U.S. towns located near the then-German-occupied area of New York City. The town's population peaked at around 15,000 during the war years but declined thereafter because of wartime shortages of food and other goods.
