The Army has been in Floral Park for over a century. The town was founded by Dutch settlers in 1786, and the first military post in the area was established at Fort Orange in 1814. The town grew rapidly after the Civil War, and by 1870 it had 712 residents. The first artillery battery was established in Floral Park in 1875, and later that year the first school opened. In 1881, Floral Park became a borough, and in 1915 it became an incorporated city. By 1925, the population of Floral Park had reached 6,500. During World War II, FloralPark produced many servicemen who served on both sides of the conflict. In 1945, Floral Park became part of the New York City metropolitan area and remains an important center for military activity today.

In 1892, Floral Park began to grow as a community. A group of businessmen and women pooled their money to purchase land, which they would develop into what is now the city of Floral Park. The first home in the community was built on this land: the Floral Park Home. This home became an iconic landmark in Floral Park, and is still used today as a family-friendly gathering place. The city of Floral Park was incorporated in 1912. In 1969,FloralPark was renamed after General George Washington during his visit to the area. After General Washington's visit, many businesses in town started using the name "Washington Square." In 1979,the City Council decided that it was time for a new name for the center of town. They suggested "Washington Boulevard." The name stuck and has been used ever since!
Floral Park is a city in the New York metropolitan area, located south of Manhattan and east of Queens. The population was 43,728 at the 2010 census. The name comes from the Flora and Fauna Garden (now known as Floral Park Cemetery), which was founded in 1826 by James K. Polk as a botanical garden on his estate in Elmhurst. The first two settlements in what is now Floral Park were started by farmers around 1795. By 1800, there were six families living in the area that included parts of what are now Central Harlem, Staten Island, and Floral Park. In 1821, James K. Polk bought part of Manor Farm near where he would later develop hisestate into one of New York's most prestigious neighborhoods. He renamed it "Flora and Fauna Garden" after plant specimens he collected during his travels through Europe and Asia. In 1825, President James Kepner donated land to form Central Harlem from parts of Manhattenites west of Broadway and north of Houston Street. This land was called "Mansion Farm". In 1828-29, Anna Boleynlived for a time with her family at 4 Riverside Drive (now part of 231st street). During her occupancy, she ordered extensive landscaping for her own new home including extensive planting of gardens both inside and outside her windowed apartments complex overlooking downtown Manhattan
When the modern army was founded in 1775, it was little more than a collection of militias. The first units were raised in local militias and companies were formed as mercenaries to fight in wars between France and England. As the Revolutionary War began, the British Army grew larger and stronger, so the Continental Congress created a standing army to support their cause. The first regiment raised by Congress was called the 1st Regiment of Dragoons (later redesignated 2nd Regiment). In 1781, Congress authorized the creation of three more regiments: 3rd Regiment of Dragoons (later redesignated 4th Regiment), 5th Regiment of Dragoons (later redesignated 6th Regiment) and 7th Regiment of Dragoons (later redesignated 8th Regiment). These new regiments were assembled into four battalions each. In 1792, Congress authorized the organization of a corps artillery system with two batteries per regiment. This system allowed for an increase in firepower while preserving cavalry unit command structure. The corps artillery system became operational in 1794. By 1800, there were over one hundred thousandSoldiers under arms across America. The 1st Infantry Division was organized on July 29, 1800 at Fort Washington outside Philadelphia under General George Washington’s command and became one of five divisions within United States Army during its formation that year. On November 16TH 1802 President James K Polk ordered all Regular Army units mustered out by December 15TH due to budget cutsbacks caused by Andrew Johnson’s presidency which only made things worse for our military manpower situation especially since most men had served their full term without any major break or retirement authorization having been given them either! Finally effective March 14TH 1803 we put an end to this cowardly policy known as “the bangalore effect” when General Winfield Scott finally got his hands on congressmen funds necessary to buy enough men replacements who then could be mustered back into service on schedule!
