In 1835, Captain Davenport lost his life while serving in Afghanistan during the War of 1812-1814; however, his legacy continues today as one of America's most influential coffee entrepreneurs

Fredonia is a small town in Upstate New York, United States. The population was 671 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Albany-Schenectady-Troy Metropolitan Statistical Area. Fredonia is located on the west side of Lake Ontario, between Schenectady and Albany. The first settler in what would become Fredonia was Nicholas Biddle in 1792. He and his family moved to this location from Frederick Township, Pennsylvania. In 1807, John P. Fenton purchased the original land which included present day Fredonia from Nicholas Biddle's heirs. The town was founded on July 1, 1807 by two men named Miller and Kapp with Wm Halkett as their surveyor. In 1835, John Stephenson bought 640 acres (2 km²) of land east of the village for $1 per acre ($/km²). This parcel became known as Stephenson's forest or Stephenson Forest because it served as one half of a larger block that became known as the Schenectady Rural School District No. 5 (later Schenectady Township No. 11). In 1876, Stephenson donated his remaining 640 acres (2 km²) to the village for use as a public square and park; it remains today an important center in Fredonia thanks to its location on Lake Ontario close to many businesses and services

Fredonia, New York is a town in Erie County, New York, United States. The population was 5,521 at the 2010 census. It is the home of Fredonia State Park and the Fredonia Locomotive Museum. The first permanent settler in what is now Fredonia was John Harker in 1795. The town was named for him. A post office called Forton was established in 1822, and remained in operation until 1840. A sawmill on the north side of the tracks near present-day Elmwood Avenue began operating in 1827. By 1830, there were seventeen mills located within one mile (1 km) of Frederica village limits; these included three gristmills and four oil presses Fredonia became a town on December 12, 1834 when it merged with neighboring Albion to form a new county under the jurisdiction of Niagara Falls County. In 1845, due to high water levels caused by heavy rains throughout central New York during wintertime, parts of what are now Elmwood Park and Waterloo Village were flooded and abandoned as prices for land soared due to demand from settlers looking for isolation from cities. This left much of what is now downtown Frederica largely undeveloped until after World War II when some developers rebuilt most sections using Federal funds available following Reconstruction which had ended two years earlier
