This unit served as one of two subordinate commands responsible for all aircraft maintenance within USAF units located anywhere within United States boundaries at any time during peacetime or wartime). In 1954, Colonel Edward Halsey became Commandant of US Army Garrison Forces Training School (AGFT) which relocated from Fort Knox Kentucky to Freeman Field near Athens-Clarke Countyline Georgia due to concerns about overcrowding at Fort Knox Kentucky which was then under control of Army Chief Of Staff Douglas MacArthur III.). AGFT consisted of three barracks blocks with live officers on duty 24/7 providing cadet training leading up to officer commissions into Officers Candidate Schools or commissioned officer status while also providing basic infantry/ tanks basic training etc.) After Colonel Halsey’s death in 1957 LtCol Robert Kapp (himself later Commandant AGFT) took charge until 1961 when LtCol John Meehan took over command until 1966 when MajGeneral James Doolittle assumed command effective September 1st 1966.. From its inception AGFT had an enlisted corps with 3 battalions each consisting both men and women who attended Basic Military Training followed by Advanced Military Training where they learned how to shoot rifles and shotgun before commissioning into service as riflemen/firearms technicians or warrant officers depending upon their rank.. Each battalion also had a detachment known as Logistical Company which provided support services such as food storage, laundry service etc.) In 1968 AGFT moved again relocation taking place from Freeman Field northeastwardly along I-285 onto current site now occupied by McIntyre Barracks housing Detachment 2-2 . Detachment 2-2 provides security for Installation Commander’s office complex housing Headquarters Squadron One (HQS1), Hawthorne Hill Radar Station (HHRS), Marine Corps Aerial Refueling Facility(MCARF), USAF Weapons Factory Research Laboratories(WFRL)and other resources used by Commander AFB Support Activity… HQS1 is responsible for managing all DoD installations worldwide including those within our own state boundaries… MCARF conducts aerial refuelings on assigned F-16 Fighting Falcons behalf of USAF Central Command ensuring Combat Readiness throughout Greater Atlanta area’). Since its establishment AGFT has hosted numerous dignitaries such as Presidents Nixon & Ford; Governors Strom Thurmond & Jimmy Carter; Admiral Elmo Zumwalt Jr.; Major General Lon Trachtenberg; Lieutenant Generals Raymond Odierno & David Petraeus; Commodore Paul Wohlgemuth; Rear Admiral Rickover; Mrs Jane Goodall Director Earth Observations National Park). During Operation Neptune Spear on October 20th 2009 Agft activated its 5th Battalion Special Operations Aviation Regiment equipped with Northrop Grumman AN/APG5C AEW Helicopters conducting airborne evacuations search and rescue operations Glosson Island off shore from Savannah GA ) On November 12th 2009 while conducting exercises Blue Jay 1856 this squadron flew assets supporting OPERATION DESERT STORM relief efforts off coastof Tucson AZ ). As part of Desert Storm Operation Red Flag these helicopters were acquired new MH–6E Dolphin helicopters becoming operational on February 6th 1990…. Nighttime overflights are conducted using ECH–4A Raven multirotor helicopter gunships operating outfitted with Raytheon Coherent Thermal imaging Scanners providing pinpoint targeting capability for night strikes against enemy targets).

The town was founded in 1824 by John Stephenson and named for General George Washington. The first settler in Fulton was James Caldwell, who arrived in 1824. In 1830 the village of Fulton was organized and located on what is now Main Street. Other early villages were Chemung (1830), Beacon (1834), Westville (1836), and Eastville (1840). In 1845, Samuel Morse donated land for a canal system through Fulton that became known as the Erie Canal. The town's first stores opened on Market Street in 1846. By 1860, Fulton had a school and post office. Fulton experienced growth during the mid-19th century due to its location between two important railroads: the Erie Canal and Atlantic Railroad. This led to businesses opening up such as breweries, brickyards, grocery stores, livery barns, mechanics shops and more; which helped contribute to its nickname "The City of Industry." During World War II much of what remains today of downtown Fulton was destroyed by bombing raids from Japan during the Battle of Midway on June 6–7 1942 as part of Operation Torch; however significant parts were rebuilt following Japanese surrender two years later including new movie theaters and other commercial buildings within walking distance of old Fort Drum barracks site along Third Avenue until they too were destroyed by fire in 1975 after being abandoned for many years! In 1951 voters approved an addition to their zoning code which allowed shopping centers within city limits with no built-in traffic flow with one major exception being Interstate 81 access off Fourth Avenue leading into Syracuse without any intervening neighborhoods or farmland available; this became known as "The Drive." After several failed attempts over ensuing years to get state funding for this drive program some idea began to form about using surplus propertyowned by different municipalities within Syracuse's borders surrounding Onondaga Lake including North Syracuse - all while keeping accessible downtown streetscape intact; this eventually became known as "The Drive Scheme". After finally gaining state funding it went into full swing starting with groundbreaking ceremonies held on October 17 1976 with over 100 businesses participating followed by ribbon cutting Ceremony on November 10 1977 when then Mayor Edwin Koch officiated
