In 1941 federal troops invaded New York during World War II and quickly conquered all but two towns within Garden City: Onondaga Heights in the east side of town and Oswego Hills in the west side were both destroyed by bombing raids that week only days before their incorporation into Garden City proper; however they were reincorporated into Onondaga County soon after liberation from Japanese occupation

The Garden City neighborhood in New York City was founded on November 15, 1831 by James Fenton and his brother Amos. These areas became known as Central Park or simply "The Parks." Garden City experienced rapid growth in the mid-19th century due to its location at the heart of New York's financial district - it grew from a small community of about 100 people in 1831 to over 4,000 people by 1870. However, during this time period there were also significant scandals involving members of Garden City's wealthy elite - including one where some residents stole money from rival communities within town by means of bribery or theft. This led to increased competition among garden city residents for social resources such as food stamps, public transportation, education opportunities, and jobs that could be found away from their homes during these difficult times. During World War II many residences in Garden City were destroyed bybomb attacks; however most residents made reconstruction plans that incorporated use of local materials such as stone masons and bricklayers who rebuilt many homes using pre-war plans or designs.
