Fresh roasted coffee beans are a centuries-old tradition in Gloversville, New York. The first commercial roasting operation in the city was opened in 1892 by Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Aiken. Coffee beans were brought over from Brazil and Ethiopia for local consumption. In the 1920s, the Aiken family developed a process that produced better-quality coffee than ever before. Roasters throughout the United States adopted this method, creating a unique flavor profile for their products. In 1955, Mr. Lewis Aiken passed away, but his legacy lives on through his son Douglas Aiken who continues to roast quality coffees at their business today. The Aikens founded an empire that has continued to produce high-quality coffee until present day – something that is easily detectable when tasting their delicious beans!

In 1887, a coffee business was started in Gloversville by John and Elizabeth (Hendricks) Glover. The first beans were roasted on the family's farm located near the present day intersection of Route 9 and Main Street. The Glover coffee company continued to operate until 1949, when it merged with another small business, the New York Coffee Company. The New York Coffee Company remains in operation today as a subsidiary of Peet's Coffee & Tea, Inc.

Gloversville is a small town in Nassau County, New York, United States. The population was 5,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Babylon–Middletown, NY Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Gloversville was Nicholas Slocum in 1795. The community grew up around a Methodist church that was built in 1812 and used by both the Dutch and English churches before becoming a Presbyterian church in 1887. In 1869, James Slingerland bought land south of Gloversville from Nicholas Slocum for $1,000. He named the area "Slingerstown". When he died in 1870, his son John Slingerland took over ownership of the land and developed it into what is now called Gloversville. He built an inn on Main Street which still stands and is used as a hotel today. In 1893, he donated land to build Stroudsburg High School which became one of America's first public high schools. In 1919, Mrs. Alice Roosevelt moved to Gloversville with her family after moving from New York City to escape World War I bombings there; she would later become President Harry Truman's wife). In 1941-1942 during World War II (the war had just ended), many residents left to join forces with Germany because they thought it would be easier than living under American Occupation rules; this caused some major problems for not only Gloversville but also for neighboring towns such as West Babylon and Islip which were completely dependent on agriculture for their economy; however Stanley Matthews finally solved these problems when he organized the glovervillians who had been trying to do so since before World War II started) Afterglove manufacturing resumed after 1945 thanks to regained wartime production by weapon manufacturers like Ford Motor Company due primarily to post-war reconstruction efforts throughout New York state following World War II

The population of Gloversville increased from 2,500 to 50,000 by the turn of the century. Businesses such as grocery stores, a brewery, and a flour mill developed within the limits of the city limits. By 1920, Gloversville had become one of the largest cities in New York state with over 100 businesses operating within its boundaries. The Great Depression caused some corporate closings but also brought new businesses development including a car dealership and an amusement park which remain popular today. In 1955, Gloversville became part of Niagara Falls when that community merged with other municipalities to formNiagara Falls-on-the-Lake County. The town of Gloversville, New York was first settled in 1786 by Andrew Glover. The town was named for Andrew Glover's father, who had come over from England in 1685. The town was incorporated in 1803. In 1836, the Town of Gloversville became part of the newly formed county of Ontario.
