The United States Army deployed gift history to Ithaca, New York in 1898. In commemoration of the centennial of the United States Military Academy, the army donated over 1,500 artifacts and items from various branches of the military to Ithaca College. These gifts included rifles, pistols, swords, equipment, uniforms and more. The items have been used by students at USMA since 1898 and are now on display in the Armoury Museum. The United States Military Academy was founded in 1802 as West Point Education Department No. 3 in response to requests from Ulysses S. Grant for an institution that could provide a quality education for young men who were dedicated to service to their country. The first classes at USMA graduated 33 cadets in December 1802. The first class of graduates received their degrees on July 4th, 1803. During its early years at IthacaCollege (later renamed IthacaUniversity), USMA had only one building which served as our Instructional Building and did not allow for any type of recreational or cultural activities outside of lectures and learning opportunities within our classrooms/labours/studies etc...Thus it is interesting that on January 15 th 1895 when President Grover Cleveland established MacDowell Home Base adjacent to USMA with barracks for officers stationed there during Reserve duty we also commemorate this event by erecting a plaque located near entrance #5 Ofpresent day athletic building (Campus Drive). It was not until 1899 when General John J Pershing established Camp Schrock on an area north of present day Memorial Union (now Bennett Arena) that camping became an integral part of our educational program here at USMM...Today’s Seminary Road still runs parallel to both former Campgrounds making it easy for visitors today walk or bike through these beautiful sites into old military days!1 In 1898 General Crocker ordered all artillery units across America posted along the frontier so that American Indians could be taught how to use firearms properly against white settlers without undue bloodshed2 This order resulted in many cannons being shipped downriver from arsenals across New York State3 Assembling these cannons took many weeks due primarily because each armory possessed different calibers and types of ammunition needed for particular missions4 Many individuals within the army contributed their time and expertise towards this project including Major-General George Armstrong Custer5 It should be noted that while much has changed since then (euphemistically referred to as “the wars”) aspects such as unit deployments remain unchanged – we continue deploy gifted history units throughout New York state every 6 months or so!6

The first military deployment in Ithaca was on October 8, 1776 when the Continental Army moved from Plattsburgh to Ithaca. The army stocked up on supplies and equipment before moving northwestward. On October 12, the army encampment near Seneca Lake came under attack from a French squadron. The Continental Army repelled the attack and pushed onward to their destination, but were met with more resistance from the French forces at Fort Ticonderoga. Despite this difficulty, the army continued its march northeastward until they reached Geronimo's Ranch on November 7. There, they received additional supplies and reinforcements before moving northwest again on November 11 toward Albany.
Ithaca, New York is a small town in the Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York. It is located on the Southern border of Seneca County and on the north side of Cayuga County. The population was 10,546 at the 2010 census. Ithaca is considered an agricultural center with large fields of corn, beans, peas, and other vegetables; dairy farming; and manufacturing including aircraft parts, printing presses, shoes and tires. Ithaca has been called "the Athens of America". The first permanent settler in what is now Ithaca was Nicholas Seaton in 1777. He founded a trading post on the south side of Cayuga Lake near modern-day Ithaca College. In 1814 John Cropsey established a farmstead on land east of present-day State University Place in what later became Seneca County. That year also saw establishment of Cornell University by Ezra Cornell (a trustee from Schenectady). In 1847 Gov. Andrew Johnson approved plans for a university here and funding was secured from private donors to begin construction in 1849/50. The cornerstone for building No. 1 was laid on October 14, 1850 by President James Kappe Sr., who had earlier chaired a committee that recommended the college be erected in Central Park west of downtown New York City as part to promote intellectual growth throughout America's largest city. Classes began on October 15, 1851 under Revs Samuel Jumonville (1802-72), Augustus Kelley (1809-68) and George Bancroft (1798-1874). The university's first president was Amos Alonzo Stearns (1813-93). By 1860 there were more than 2200 students living in buildings on campus or travelling to classes overseas via boat or train every day! Of these students 100% were men! Yale joined Columbia as an undergraduate college in 1865 but kept its separate admissions process until 1971 when all Ivy League universities merged into one system! During World War II Ithaca participated actively both offensively and defensively as part of Army Air Force Station North American Aviation at nearby Roswell Field airport which gave rise to local nicknames such as "Roswell Hill" because parts of the airport resembled an alien spacecraft recovered during wartime research activity there: "Mothballed" planes could often be found parked near departures gates with their engines still running so they looked like they had just landed - something that continued until after September 11th! After 1945 many hands finished building what would eventually become known as Cornell University while others took over various smaller schools within Ithaca area including Lock Haven Teachers' College which became known as Siena College after manager Eliot Coleman sold its property adjacent to Lock Haven Airport to build it into one large school – becoming Siena Heights today! Ithacanians have played significant roles throughout history: Bruno Latour wrote his book "The Ordering Of Things" here; Gertrude Stein spent some time here while writing her poems; playwright William Saroyan attended sessions at Siena Heights before moving back home to teach high school English there; author Isaac Asimov taught high school English here before going onto win fame as one half OF THE WEST POINT DOGS fame AND fortune; and singer Arlo Guthrie came up through local streets here before studying music business at SUNY Purchase along with career changes that led him Grammy nominated status among other accomplishments! Today many alumni continue their professional lives outside the United States although most attend graduate level programs abroad or return annually for Visiting Professors positions at our colleges/universities abroad...etc etc etc...we are definitely Hometown Heroines!!!

The town was founded on October 14, 1776 by colonists of the British Province of Albany and named for Ithaca, in present-day Greece. Ithaca became an American city on February 2, 1847. It is now the capital of the State of New York. The town's history can be traced back to its founding as part of the British Province of Albany. In 1776, under the leadership of George Washington, America's first president, Albany seceded from Great Britain and adopted its own form of government known as the United States Constitution. The following year saw some impressive milestones in Ithaca's history: on November 5th Dr. Benjamin Rush published an influential book called "A Commentary Upon his Treatise on Medical Jurisprudence" which helped spur medical education in America; on December 10th John Greenleaf Whittier Published his landmark poem "The Grapes Of Wrath"; and finally on January 12nd James Kieft established what would become one of New York City's earliest ferry terminals at Poughkeepsie Landing
Ithaca, New York is a town in Cayuga County, New York, United States. Ithaca was founded in 1784 by Europeans as the new capital of the Province of Albany. It became a separate city in 1814 and remained so until 1959. The original region that comprised present-day Ithaca and its surrounding towns was first settled by the Lenape Native Americans during the late 16th century. In 1672, settlers from England established a small farmstead on what is now called East Ithaca Street. That year, Englishman John Smith discovered a rich vein of gold near Tompkinsville and decided to set up an outpost there to explore. Over time, other Englishmen also explored or developed nearby villages including North Ithaca (now Elmira), South Ithaca (now White Plains), East Aurora (now Liberal), West Aurora (now Mohawk), Canada Creek (Creek Avenue today), and Fresh Pond Village before arriving in 1784 to settle here.
