The history of the Ithaca Shooting Club dates back to 1892. The club was formed by a group of men who desired to keep their gun collection together and share ammunition. They purchased their first rifle, an old French model, in 1892. The club enjoyed success at shooting matches and tournaments until World War I when they were forced to close due to military restrictions on firearms. In 1920, the Ithaca Shooting Club reorganized themselves as a nonprofit organization with a focus on education and conservation. They continued to compete in local competitions until the late 1960s when they stopped altogether. Today, the Ithaca Shooting Club remains a popular resource for shooters in upstate New York.

Ithaca, New York is a small city in the Finger Lakes region of New York State. The population was 29,836 at the 2010 census. Ithaca is the largest city in Cornell University's system and one of its main campuses. It also has a large number of rural residents as well as commuters from nearby cities and towns. Ithaca was founded by Cadmus Ingersoll in 1814 as a trading post on the east bank of what is now called Seneca Lake. He named it after his home town, Ixodes (present-day Idlib), Syria. The downtown area was rebuilt after a fire in 1871 that destroyed most of the old town and killed many people. The Site: Cornell University purchased land north of Seneca Lake on which they built their first campus building on October 24, 1865. A second lot was acquired south ofSeneca Lake on which they built their present-day library building in 1876–77 using funds raised from an unsuccessful effort to raise money for university construction through subscription drives among farmers living near Cornell's campus site. Construction began on both buildings simultaneously but soon diverged because funding became available for only one type of construction project at a time – this allowed for more efficient use of labor while allowing for superior finish products resulting from standardization across projects undertaken by various architect firms working under General Contractor John Davenport & Sons Ltd.– all members OFHRC (Old Harvard Company). Today part of East Campus extends into West Campus forming Old Campus while Science Quadrangle occupies most modern headquarters facilities located just off High Street within sightlines (but not footfalls)ofmanagersandstaffoftheUniversity’s 14 Faculties/Schools/Institutions! In addition to original purchases made adjacent to each other along High Street between First Avenue South and Elmira Road (now North Campus), other sites were purchased or leased over time including: acreage west side Hudson River opposite current Administration Building; acres southwest corner Main Street between Cayuga Heights Road and Park Row; northeast corner Donaldson Road adjoining current Donahue Laboratories; northwest corner Grandview Drive adjoining current Guggenheim Museum Headquarters
