The Lindenhurst Air Force Base gift history can be traced back to World War II. In 1942, the United StatesAAF (United States Armed Forces Aeronautics and Space Administration) was created as a result of the Second World War. The new organization was tasked with developing air forces in support of American military campaigns abroad. One of the first projects undertaken by the USAF was to purchase an airplane from Boeing Aircraft Corporation. This plane, nicknamed "Eagle" after General George Custer's horse, served as the first postwar aerial refueling tanker for American bombers flying missions over Europe. In 1947, when Lindenhurst AFB became an independent airbase, it purchased two more airplanes - one called "Grizzly" and another dubbed "Black Widow". These planes were used for training and experimentation with jet aircraft before they were put into service with the base in 1951 as part of its fighter squadron known as The Fighter Squadron (F-4 Phantom). In 1962, Lindenhurst AFB purchased its third plane - a Lockheed P-3 Orion trainer aircraft nicknamed "Comet". This helicopter served as the backbone of the base's aviation program until it was replaced by the F-16 Fighting Falcon in 1984. The last P-3 Orion flew on November 30th, 1991. Since then, Lindenhurst AFB has been home to many different types of aircraft including fighter jets such as The F-16 Fighting Falcon and helicopters like The Comet and Black Widow. Today, Lindenhurst AFB is home to three operational squadrons: The 69th Airlift Squadron which provideslift services; 55th Attack Wing which conducts airstrikes; and 64th Rescue Squadron which provides search and rescue services.
Lindenhurst is a small village in the town of Hempstead, New York, United States. The population was 582 at the 2000 census. Lindenhurst is part of the Rochester-on-Hempstead Micropolitan Statistical Area. The first European settlement in what is now Lindenhurst was made on April 24, 1686 by Captain John Smith and his party as they were exploring the area for a new trading post on Long Island Sound. At that time there were no villages or settlements on Long Island and only about 20 people lived permanently in the present day towns of Rochester and Hempstead. The first settler to arrive in what is now Lindenhurst was Samuel Weller who arrived from England on July 9, 1686 with his family. He built a log cabin on the north side of present day Court Street which still stands today. The Village of Lindenhurst formed from parts of two other villages which had merged to form one village: North Hempstead and South Hempstead. On November 14, 1766, under an act of Congress known as the Townshend Act, North Hempstead became part of Rochester while South Hempstead continued to be part ofLindenhurst until it too became part of Rochester in 1881 On February 4, 1800 John Ransom founded Ransom's Cannery near where he lived and business operated until 1853 when it burned down due to bad management In 1812 Henry Sloat opened up Sloat's Bayou Coffee House which later became known as Sloat's Tavern In 1843 Demarest & Company sold land east off Court Street for $2 per acre In 1847 Nicholas Fenton bought 1/4 acre next door for $1 per acre In 1850 James Davenport bought 1/4 acre next door for $1 per acre also called "Fenton's Farm" This property would become known as "Davenport's Landing" When Dockery moved his store across East Main Street in 1865 he turned this landing into an ice cream parlor named after him called "Docker’s Creamery" After his death this parlor closed down but reopened several times before finally closing again in 1987 It reopened again last year as Cuppertown Ice Cream Museum Inc .Demarest & Co., popularly know as Demarest’s Bordello In 1860 Isaac Newton Ellis opened up Ellis' grocery store at 201 East Main Street renamed after himself (later changed back) This store would remain open until 1955 when it closed because it could not keep up with competitive prices from stores around town Another store located nearby at 411 E Main St Opened In 1861 By Eliza Linsky Withdrawn From Service In 1957 Also Closed For Store Overspending By Owner After Being Forced To Sell Goods Out Of Pawtucket Rhode Island There are many examples throughout history that show how businesses can close their doors but reopen years later with updated marketing strategies or names

Lindenhurst was a small town in Nassau County, New York, United States. It is located on the shore of Babylon Bay and near the present-day town of Smithtown. The post office at Lindenhurst was established in 1806, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1907. The first settler in what is now Lindenhurst was Nicholas Hontz. He had come to the area from Hamburg, Germany in 1798. A few years later, John Van Ness moved to Lindenhurst from Farmingdale and started a sawmill there. In 1805, German immigrant Wilhelm Dreyer arrived from Hanover with his family and set up shop as a cooper here. By 1826, all of the families living at Lindenhurst had either relocated or died out due to disease or war homecoming problems abroad or skirmishes with Native Americans. In 1820, Abram Tisch came overland from Holland with his family and started an inn called the Dutchman's Rest Inn on Main Street across from the old Dutch mill village that still stands today (now part of Smithtown). In 1824, Reverend Barton bought land at present-day 117th Street and Third Avenue for $5 per acre which he donated to build a church thereon – St Alban's Anglican Church (later known as First Unitarian Church). The first service held at this new location took place on July 4th, 1824. As early as 1800s there were references to "a good place by the bay" where people could fish for white bass (and other species) large enough for marketable purposes; Eventually this became known as Babylon Bayou which lay between Albany and SmithtownSreficely no mention has been found of any commercial fishing operations taking place here until after 1800 when some members of two families who would become Hollywood Studios were active smugglers running their vessels out into Babylon Bayou supplying catches ashore with fabled Spanish flu pandemic victims clothing so fresh they still showed evidence of handling during transportation - more information can be found on various web sites
