Lynbrook, New York is a town in Nassau County, New York, United States. The population was 20,812 at the 2010 census. It is the largest town in the county by land area and second-largest by population to Babylon. Lynbrook is part of the Juanita–Thornburgh Micropolitan Statistical Area. Lynbrook was first settled in 1824 by Alexander McKay and his family as an agricultural village on high ground east of present-day Babylon. In 1827, when American soldiers burned down Fort Orange (now part of Hempstead), they discovered rich coffee beans growing near where their cannons had been used against Native Americans. The British forces who had occupied America during the War for Independence found the beans valuable enough to keep them in business after they evacuated America in 1783. When war broke out with France in 1798, American traders turned their attention to coffee instead of war materiel and began importing Frencho beans from Brazil; however, these beans were not as good as Dutch or Spanish roasted coffee because they were not cold roasted like those from Africa or SouthAmerica. By 1800, about 50% of all U.S.-produced coffee was coming from Brazil and Europe; however, since most Americans drank only black coffee (which was then considered best), Portuguese roasters did not gain much popularity in North America until after the Haitian Revolution put an end to slavery there in 1830. In 1825/26 Captain John Smith led a group of eleven men overland from Albany through what is now upstate New York to find a better place to grow coffee than on Long Island Sound where saline water made it difficult for plants to thrive and nearby towns enjoyed easy access to ships docking at Jamaica Bay. They reached Lynbrook on October 7th resulting in some confusion because no one knew where Babylon fell off into genie country! They named their new village after General James Wilkinson who hadcommanded British forces during the Battle of Saratoga which ended American independence two years earlier; unfortunately this name never caught on so local farmers continued using Abram's Camp whichinence called home for many years thereafter). The first permanent settler arrived around 1830: Levi Browner purchased three acres (1 hectare) just north of present-day Lynbrook along with another acre (0·5 hectare) adjoining it from Captain John Smith's group that had landed there two weeks earlier while exploring what would become modern day Nassau County 40 miles away across Long Island Sound - he built a log cabin that still stands today next door to his farmhouse - Browner became one of Lyncroft’s earliest residents and started cultivating corn rather than selling flour, soap or other goods he produced himself due to transportation difficulties back then being only four miles wide compared today’s 5‑mile width PLUS Ferry boat crossings!! Browner’s descendants continue farming here today including David Browner who founded Sunnyside Farms LLC., one of Nassau County’s leading agricultural producers –Sunnyside Farms produces more than 570 acres(2 hectares)of fruit trees & vegetables annually& employs more than 100 people worldwide…Each year we donate $10K+ towards environmental causes such as composting campaigns & rain gardens

The history of Lynbrook, New York goes back to the 17th century. The first Europeans to visit this area were the Dutch, in 1624. They named the location "Lynbrook" after a small stream that ran through it. In 1775, the British renamed it "Right Brook." later on, in 1814, Lynbrook was incorporated as a town. It was part of Albany County until 1898. At that time, it became part of the newly formed Monroe County. In 1925, Lynbrook became an independent village and remains so to this day.
Lynbrook, New York is a small town located in the Finger Lakes region of New York. The population was 4,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Adirondack Park system. Lynbrook was founded in 1785 by Ebenezer Brewster and his wife Sarah. Brewster named it for his birthplace, Lynbrooke, England. The first settler in Lynbrook was Nicholas Fenton who arrived in 1798. Fenton built a cabin on what is now Elmwood Avenue and named it after his home country, France. In 1814, John Morse settled at Lynbrook with his family and began to grow corn and soybeans on what is now North Main Street. In 1823, James Kapp bought land near present-day Cedar-Ridge Road and renamed it Kapp's Corners for himself and his tenants. He started to cultivate hops on what is now West Main Street between Cedar-Ridge Road and North Main Street in 1825. In 1830 Samuel Booth bought land east of present-day Elmwood Avenue from James Kapp and called it Booth's Corner for himself and his tenants. He started to cultivate apples on what is now South Main Street between Elmwood Avenue and North Main Street in 1830 under the name of Applecrossed Farms. In 1838 Isaac Goodrich moved to Lynbrook from Canandaigua with his family following a dispute over grazing rights with another farmer thereabouts (Goodrich had been living at Canandaigua since 1800). Goodrich erected a log cabin near where he later lived on West Main Street between Elmwood Avenue and North Main Street as Wonderfarms shortly thereafter (goodriches@aol dotcom). By 1840, all but one tenant had left Applecrossed Farms due to competition from new arrivals such as Andrew Johnson who settled four miles north of Lynd Brook on lands that would become Clinton County; however, Johnson kept some apple trees which were still standing when he died in 1865 (Clinton County Historical Society Report #1: "Andrew Johnson: A Survivor" by Toni Morrison)). After Andrew Johnson's election as president in November 1860 he leased 1/4 acre of property along modern day Route 5 south of Lynd Brook from Colonel George Prentice for wagon transportation purposes only - this parcel became known as Lincoln Manor upon Prentice's death in 1862 (Clinton County Historical Society Report #2: "Lincoln Manor - History & Analysis" by Deborah Lippin)). By 1870 all but two tenants had left Applecrossing Farms due to competition from new arrivals such as Elias Howe who settled three miles west of Lynd Brook on land that would become Ontario County; however Howe kept some apple trees which were still standing when he died in 1893 (Ontario County Historical Society Report #3: "Howe Farmstead - history & analysis"). From these beginnings until about 1900 most or all landowners within today’s Lynbrook boundaries cultivated strawberries or other fruits or vegetables using hand threshing machines connected directly to soil moisture pots set up outside their homes during summer months when Buena Vista Dam opened bringing irrigation water directto farmlands) . A post office operated at Lynbrook from 1827 until 1850; its first postmaster general being John Morse Sr.. The last resident born before February 14th 1861 was Ezekiel Danforth who died August 3rd 1861 aged 82 years old according to Census records…..By 1860 there remained only 3 male taxpayers living within 2 1/2 miles radius….The Ladies Auxiliary Union No 828 donated money towards the building costof Female Seminary…Lynbrook Male High School flourished into the late 20th century serving grades 9 thru 12 wednesday nights starting Separately With prior High School Classes duration around 2 hrs…..Today Hennepin Technical College offers an associates degree program leading up To Doctorate degrees……Today we have a beautiful park just south east Of Our Current Home….Thank you For your continued support!!!!!

Lynbrook was a small town in the Finger Lakes region of New York State, United States. It was located in Rensselaer County on the east side of Lake Ontario, about 25 miles (40 km) south of Albany and 50 miles (80 km) north of Buffalo. The population was 5,000 at the time of incorporation in 1836. The first settler in Lynbrook was Abram C. Whitney, who arrived in 1835 from Vermont. He built a cabin on the bank of the stream that later became known as Whitney Pond. One year later, Whitney married Sarah Auld, also from Vermont. In 1836, they moved to a log cabin on what is now Main Street. The Whitney family would live there until 1860 when they moved to their final location on High Street near the present day Lynbrook Library and Museum complex. In 1840, Abram Cushing bought land adjacent to where he and his wife lived and began developing it into a community called Northfield which would eventually include both Lynbrook and Northfield Heights along with several other villages within its boundaries including Vestal and East Aurora During the early 1800s many farmers settled around these lakeshore communities due to their good soils and accessible water resources- this led to an increase in trade between these regions as well as easy transportation across these waters by boat or steamboat . This increased commerce resulted in new businesses being founded here such as tanning Old World animals for export or manufactures like buttons or lace rugs . These industries helped develop economies within these villages while also contributing toLynbrook's nickname "the hand basket" because so much goods were brought here by passengers via riverboats
