Mineola, New York is a small village in the town of West Hempstead. The population was 1,846 at the 2010 census. Minesola has had its own coffee shop since 1869 and it still stands today. Mineola Coffee Company was started by A.L. Neumann and his wife Anna as a modest operation with two coffeepots, serving four customers at a time. By 1925, their business had grown to 12 pots and 16 customers per day. In 1951, Mineola Coffee Company merged with Dutch Bros., one of the largest coffee companies in America at that time. This merger made Mineola one of only two villages in the United States to have both a coffee shop and an independently owned grocery store - the other being Easton, Pennsylvania’s Bethel Grocery Co-Op. In 1957, Mineola Coffee Company opened its first automated espresso machine which helped increase customer throughput by 50%. 1960 saw Mineola join forces with Pabst Brewing Corporation to form Pabst-Mineola Brewery Ltd., which became one of America's leading brewing companies for ground coffee and cocoa beans (canned goods). In 1984, ownership passed from Pabst-Mineola Brewery Ltd to Peet's Supermarkets Incorporated who operate it as part of their larger convenience foods division until 1995 when it was sold back to Pabst-Mineola Brewery Ltd., becoming a wholly owned subsidiary within Peet's Supermarkets Incorporated until 2003 when PEET ENTERPRISES LIMITED acquired all assets of PABST ENTERPRISES INCORPORATED including Mineolan Coffee Shop operations (including the reopened mineolancoffeecompany.com website)

The town was first settled by Dutch settlers in 1624. Mineola began to be developed as a transportation center in the 1830s with the opening of the Erie Canal. By 1860, Mineola had become an important agricultural and commercial center with a large millinery and dressmaking industry. The town's mills were destroyed by fire in 1882, but resumed operations two years later. Mineola's growth continued through World War II until the war caused a decrease in population and businesses after it ended; however, Mineola has seen some recent resurgence due to its proximity to New York City and its role within statewide economic development plans. Mineola is home to two public schools: Mineola Central High School (grades 9-12) and Mineola East Middle School (grades 7-9). There are also three private schools: St Joseph’s Preparatory Academy for Girls (grades 6-8), Notre Dame de Sales Private School for Boys (grades 8-10), and Holy Name Catholic High School for Girls (grades 11-13). Additionally, there are several churches including Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Church which serves as a post office, St John Bosco Church which has been home to Minesolan baseball since 1907, Mount Carmel United Methodist Church which provides worship services for both boys and girls from ages 3–18 years old, as well as numerous small businesses that provide services such as grocery shopping or lawn care. It was first settled as an agricultural community in 1795 by Loyalists who left Newark, New Jersey during the American Revolution. Mineola grew rapidly after independence and became a manufacturing center for copper and other minerals. The town's economy declined following World War II and the divestment of aluminum from New York City; however, it has rebounded in recent years with growth in the restaurant industry, especially due to its proximity to Niagara Falls. Mineola is one of several towns that form the town of Dunkirk within Upstate New York's borders. The other towns are Auburn, Oneida, and Airville. Minesola was originally part of Erie County until 1824 when it merged with Clinton County to form Onondaga County. In 1837 Mineola separated from Onondaga county and became part of Albany County; however, it rejoined Onondaga county two years later when Albany split into three parts (Albany, Buffalo, and Syracuse). Mineola's first school was built in 1795 by farmers who abandoned Newark because British forces burned down their homes there during the American Revolution. The school was renamed West Union Academy after West Union Township which straddles mineola's southern border. The township developed a strong educational institution reputation throughout upstate new york thanks to its efforts to keep public schools open during winters while farmers took their children skiing or ice skating at nearby Crystal Lake or Deer Park resorts near Toronto Ontario Canada. In 1827 Mineola joined what would become Erie Canal Company along with six other communities formingthe Seneca Nation Indian Reserve east of Rochester NY viasurrender agreement made between United States general John Burgoyne and Chief Tecumseh leading up to US victory over Great Britain at Saratoga Springs on October 22nd 1777 this event also marked end of British military occupation over North America
