Mount Kisco is a small town in Greene County, New York, United States. The population was 2,711 at the 2010 census. Mount Kisco is located on the east side of the Mohawk River. The town was first settled in 1773 by Loyalists from Canada who had fled to America during the American Revolution. The name "Kisco" comes from two sources: one source says that it derived from "King's Contingent", a unit of the royal Canadian army that fought in North America, and another says that it is derived from an Iroquois word meaning "mountain peak." Afterward, various land grants were made to settlers in what is now Mount Kisco Village and Townships 1-3. In 1814, General John Armstrong erected a military fortification here which served as headquarters for his brigade during the War of 1812. After victory over British forces at Battle of Canandaigua Creek, General Armstrong named this fortifications Fort Armstrong to honor him. In 1825, Captain Abraham Funk built a log cabin here which he used as his home until his death in 1862. In 1865–1866, Samuel Morse visited Mount Kisco and sketched out plans for a telegraph line between New York City and Boston using ground he had acquired hereabouts. The first line was completed in 1868; it connected Albany with Philadelphia via Buffalo and Rochester. A post office was established at Mount Kisco on November 10th, 1826 by Augustus Hestert; it continued until 1840 when it became part of Uticaville (now Auburn). A school was established here in 1830 by Revs David Noble and James Gadsden Jr.; grades one through twelve were conducted there until 1861 when they moved to Uticaville East School District #1 . An academy building was erected herein about 1850 by Drs Ezra Stiles and Levi Parsons; grades eleven through thirteen were conducted there until about 1865 when they moved to Ridgefield Academy . A church also soon began being erected here – First Dutch Reformed Church – dedicated December 6th 1861 . It continued operations as such until 1888 when it merged into Immaculate Conception Parish Church . An Episcopal parish formed around 1870 contains much of today's mountkisco village including most of what remains of Drude Park - once an extensive grove or plantation with dense stands of sycamore trees - where Reverend Edmund Crain preached services morning and night outside his open carriage door before hundreds if not thousands of spectators while horse drawn omnibuses transported passengers upriver past elegant white wooden palazzos adorned with fountains overlooking busy river settlements where fashionable ladies assembled each afternoon to dance attendance upon their young gentlemen friends - all activities having been openly sponsored by Mr & Mrs Crain personally! Most likely because Reverend Crain saw great potential for religious revivalism within then rapidly growing village dotted only with modest sized residences situated close enough together but far enough away from major commercial areas yet still respectableenough providing excellent transportation links both ways for inspection/appreciationof impressive architecture + extraordinary scenery! No wonder so many people came downriver each day just to witness this level + quality religious service offered free+!!! There must have been something special about these times back then :)

Mount Kisco is a summit located in Westchester County, New York. The peak has an elevation of 5,023 feet (1,521 meters). It is the highest point in the town of Mount Kisco and one of the most important landmarks in its history. The first settlers of Mount Kisco arrived in 1672 and began to settle the area around what is now the summit. In 1784, John Stark built a mill on the stream that flows up to the peak. In 1812, General Anthony Wayne encampment at what is now Mount Kisco Heights was also located on or near this peak. The settlement grew rapidly due to its convenient location for transportation and trade routes as well as its fertile soil. In 1838,builder James Purdie erected a sawmill on the top of Mount Kisco, making it one of New York's earliest commercial mills. By 1860, there were over 20 mills operating in MountKisco Township. The township was organized into two wards in 1868 - Eastville and Westville - based on population differences which reflected Vermont's larger size then New York's smaller townships. During World War II, many factories were constructed within minutes' walk of downtown Manhattan by builders seeking to make wartime materials more accessible to American war-time consumers without going down into lower Manhattan or Brooklyn Heights where munitions manufacturing took place. One such factory was Wernher von Braun's facilities at 45 Park Avenue South which made rocket engines for U-2s and other military aircraft during Cold War America
The town of Kisco, New York was founded in 1764 by George Washington and his troops during their campaign against the French. The town was named for General John Kisco, who fought in the American Revolution. Kisco was part of the Western Reserve until it became a part of the new state of New York in 1824. In 1827, the town passed an act providing for a school district and enabling two stores to be built on Main Street. The first building was built in 1829 and continued to serve as the town center until around 1860 when a new courthouse replaced it.
