The United States Air Force (USAF) gift history goes back to World War II. Beginning with the establishment of theAAF in 1947, the USAF has been a part of America’s global military commitment. The USAF is responsible for providing air power through its many wings and brigades. Each wing and brigade provides unique capabilities that contribute to US strategic objectives. In 1948, the USAF established a gift history program in order to commemorate our aircraft and personnel sacrifices during World War II. The program permanently preserved over 195 aircraft and 1,500 enlisted personnel from throughout the USAF. Today, we continue this tradition by awarding grants and scholarships to deserving individuals within our community. In addition, we support Operation Good Shepherd which helps provide humanitarian assistance to war-torn countries such as Afghanistan and Iraq. Our goal is always to help make America’s presence felt globally!

Ossining is a town in Dutchess County, New York, United States. The population was 5,813 at the 2010 census. Ossining was founded by Quakers in 1788 and became an incorporated village in 1807. It is the largest community in the town of Ossining and one of its most important economic centers. The area now called Ossining was first settled by the Mohawk people and then by Germans. In 1788, Quaker Meeting House #1 (now known as Northumberland Presbyterian Church) was built here on land donated by George Washington. The Erie Canal connected Buffalo and New York City, making Ossining a major trading center during the late 1800s. After construction of the I-90 freeway changed transportation patterns, much of what once made up Ossining's commercial district has been replaced by larger townships or villages elsewhere within Dutchess County. However, some portions of the old downtown business district have retained their original character and are still used for cultural events such as music festivals or art shows. What remains today of Quaker Meeting House #1 is one of only four remaining buildings from early settlement in Ossining Village which included over 100 homes that were built between 1788-1800 when it served as an integral part ofQuaker life in this region including services to members both inside and outside their meeting house In 1807 following his victory at Saratoga Springs against British forces General John Burgoyne began construction on what would become known as Old Fortification Road which ran through present day Ossining across from Lake Ontario about two miles north east from where he had initial encampment . After further progress several more forts were erected along with barracks for troops before finally completing defense lines across from Kingston that lasted until 1862 just beyondpresent day boundaries
Ossining was first settled by the Lenape in the 16th century. In 1756, the Ossining Patent and Purchase of lands from Lord Albany granted to John D'Anna and his brother Nicholas for their services in the American Revolution. In 1813, a group of farmers from nearby Westchester County established a small community called North Ossining. The community grew quickly, thanks to its close proximity to major markets and natural resources. In 1854, Ossining became a town under New York Statehood. It remained an agricultural center until after World War II when industrialization began to sweep through New York City. Today, Ossining is home to several high-tech companies as well as two small colleges: One based in Cortlandt Hall and the other in White Plains.
